Now let’s talk about this all black outfit that I’m pitching as a legitimate summer look. Am I cray? Maybe, but it has only just started getting hot in Ontario and the nights are still cool. Plus, I see no reason to hide my favourite colour away for a whole season just ‘because’.
I love pairing black with brown tones to soften the overall vibe. This scarf is one of my favourite accessories because it adds interest but it’s super lightweight and still fairly neutral (more about the maker’s of it here). A tan belt breaks things up and a loose fit in both the tee and skirt keep it casual and make it a breeze to wear. I love this look for backyard BBQs especially because this skirt is the ultimate mosquito shield!
So why not give an outfit like this a try this weekend? It may open up some options that you otherwise reserved for cooler seasons. With that I wish you a very Happy Friday!

Black is actually my favorite summer color. Or just my favorite color. It’s great in summer because it’s so easy- there’s nothing worse than worrying about sweat marks or stains when you just want to relax and enjoy.
I also love a summer scarf- in Texas I get funny looks for wearing extra layers when it’s 100° out, but I’m sure in Canada it’s much more normal.
Your color pairings are lovely- there’s something so summery and fall-like about pairing black and cognac! That’s a combination I look forward to using more in the coming months the.
