It’s time for a new week of work outfits post! I’ve had lots of requests for more office-ready style and since it can be hard to muster inspiration during winter, I’ve put together a few ideas to help get you through.
Although I don’t currently work in a typical office environment, I spent about eight years in advertising, working with corporate clients in the healthcare sector. This meant lots of boardroom meetings with marketing teams and sales reps so I had to look the part. Whenever I’m getting ready for a meeting now my approach is to dress professionally, keeping it minimal, with a dose of creativity added to the mix.
Read on to see 5 winter work outfits, each styled for both the commute & the office. Catch these looks in action on IGTV later today!

LOOK 1
Here’s a classic Katharine Hepburn inspired look that I’d wear for a design presentation or a client meeting. You can’t go wrong with a great blazer and black trouser combo. To make sure this one is cozy enough for winter I started with a fitted turtleneck and a pair of knee socks, although full leggings could work easily under a relaxed pant like these.
I added a few brown accessories through my boots, belt and tote so that a camel coat would tie into the palette nicely. From there I layered a big wool scarf on top to keep my neck and shoulders cozy. I love a scarf worn long like this! I’ll grab a pair of gloves on my way out and be all set.
This one also looks great if you want to take off the blazer and just throw the scarf over your shoulders for some toasty typing time!

Oh how I’m loving a sweater dress these days! This classic black one is many years old but I still reach for it in the winter months. A sweater dress always pairs nicely with opaque black tights and I love how a charcoal knee sock peeks out of a tall leather boot. So chic, so cozy, so comfy!
Since this sweater dress is quite warm I just wear a fitted tee (like this) underneath and can get away with a slightly lighter coat. This vintage houndstooth is my favourite way to infuse some pattern and energy into a look. Adding some light neutral accessories like a taupe watch and mini tote helps to soften the palette as well.
An ivory hat and cashmere scarf freshen everything up and keep in the heat!

This look demonstrates an easy office outfit formula that would definitely be my go-to for an average weekday.
Long Puffer + Fitted Black Pant + Long-sleeve Tee + Chunky Knit Sweater + Tall Ankle Boots
It’s unfussy yet sophisticated and the combinations are pretty much infinite once you’ve got some pants you like and a few sweaters in your collection.
This colour palette feels particularly cozy and by keeping it very lean it feels intentional and elegant. I might even switch the suede ankle boot for a knee high leather boot to balance out the oversize sweater a little more.

LOOK 4
For something a little more creative, perhaps for a presentation, I love a statement piece like this a-line cream skirt. It’s a bit unexpected and not a typical ”winter” piece but paired with tall boots and a turtleneck it gets the cold weather treatment.
A tiny detail worth noting is how these pearl earrings pop thanks to the cream skirt. This draws the eye up and helps to balance the large block of light colour, which can tend to overwhelm.
This green knit is an old favourite and I love how it pairs with cream and other warm neutrals.
My camel wrap coat, tan bag and some black accessories all come together for a unique and polished winter work look.

LOOK 5
Last but not least we have this easy-going option that’s mixing lots of soft tones in a nod to spring! You’ll notice in the ‘commuter’ version of the outfit I’ve got a weather-ready pair of boots on, while the ‘at the office’ version has a sleeker boot.
When you have to trudge through snow to get to your car or the subway but don’t want to stomp around work in big snow boots, it can be worth it to bring a pair of indoor shoes for the office. I’d just slip my glove boots into my bag and swap them out once I got to work for the day.
This look is fairly casual but the monochrome base feels intentional. Try pairing pants and a cardigan in similar tones for an instantly pulled-together outfit!

Super helpful! So many times I search for workwear outfit posts and think, “This person has never stepped foot in an corporate office environment.” Haha!
These are realistic work looks that can be interpreted based on what’s in your own closet. Good stuff!!
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that this is a lovely post! The most realistic I’ve seen for workwear in winter actually! Plus, you look fabbb!
Thank you so much Mo!
I just wanted to say thank you for making a REALISTIC winter work outfit collection! Every outfit is so cute and practical for an Illinois winter. Just thank you! 😊❤️
Dear Lee, could you please tell me the size of the Quinn sweater you are wearing. Thank you!
Hi Helena, I have a Small in the Quinn. Xo
I need that camel coat! gorgeous!
Thanks Sara! Love a true classic and a camel coat is indeed that!
Hi Lee,
Love your honest blog. Love that you are caring for yourself. Also love the Carmel and winter whites on you. Color other then black suits you. Thanks for all the tips.
Thanks so much for this sweet note Darlene! Means so much. xo
Hi Lee
Just wondering what size you wear in the Everlane pleated pant?
Thanks!
Love your blog!
Nicky
Hey Nicky, I wear a size 4 in the pleated trouser. That’s my usual size in Everlane pants and I find the fit generous but the tencel has great movement and drape so they don’t feel too voluminous.
Thank you so much! Xo
Great winter inspiration! I especially like the knee socks in look 2 and the colors in look 3–the sweater looks so warm and cheery with the black.
Thanks!
So glad those details jumped out for you 🙂 Thanks for reading Megan! xo
Looks 1 and 2 are stellar and my absolute favorites! I just love how Hepburny those pants are and how easygoing and chic they make you look. I also am really smitten with the earthy browns with that black–it’s so gorgeous!
Thanks so much Ana! xo
Great post (as usual!). Think I’ll give those new Everlane pants a try…
Thanks for tuning in Clare! Let me know what you think of them if you do. xo
Great inspiration for the mid-winter doldrums. I especially love Look 2; that is a fantastic glen plaid coat!
What a good word ”doldrums” is. That is exactly the state I’ve been in lately haha. Thanks for reading Dalaine!
