Lately I’ve been feeling a little stagnant in my outfit choices and the same pieces are making their way through the laundry a lot.
In search of some style motivation, I thought it might be fun to share a 30 Days of Fall Outfits series as we head into winter here in Ontario. Iโm calling this a series (instead of a challenge) to keep it open and stress free. No numbers, no counting, no restrictions, just a good excuse to wear more of my closet and test out a couple of new pieces.
For the next 30 days Iโll be sharing one outfit every day, updating this blog post until, by the end of the month, there are 30 outfits here! I hope this will encourage anyone who’s looking for some inspiration to shop their closet and get creative with me.
Either way, please feel free to tune in here!
This post is not sponsored or produced in partnership with any brands mentioned. Many of the links below are affiliate, which means Style Bee earns a commission on sales made using the links below (at no additional cost to customers). All opinions are always my own and I only share items I love and think you might too. Thanks for supporting this space, I hope you find it helpful!
IN CONCLUSION
My goal going into this series was to wear more of my closet and liberate my style from the pandemic rut I’ve felt stuck in. I’m happy to report that I managed to achieve that goal and the exercise even opened up some new sources of joy and creative connection. In fact, I had so much fun sharing my style more consistently and more freely that I’ve begun development on a whole new section of Style Bee. I can’t wait to share more soon!
Thank you so much for tuning in throughout this series. It’s been a delight to connect with many of you on here and through my DMs and emails. Ultimately, this series has reinforced that self-expression is a vital component to life for so many of us. No matter what the world looks like, it’s never a waste of time to lean into the things that bring us joy and for me, and likely those reading this, that’s personal style!
LOOK 30/30
AN ALL CANADIAN CONCLUSION
I felt it was only fitting to end this series with a look that features all Canadian designers. We have so much talent up here and throughout this incredibly difficult year, independent brands have proven, yet again, to be some of the most resilient small businesses. I think it comes down, in part, to being adaptable and hard working but also to passion and the drive to create and share that work with the world.
I know you know this, but I’ll say it anyway. This season it’s more vital than ever to support our favourite small businesses whenever possible. If you can skip the ‘ZON and shop small it won’t go unnoticed.
This all-Canadian outfit prompt helped me combine some items that I may not have otherwise. For instance, my Aura light denim pants and the Marine cardigan weren’t a pairing I’d have planned on but I’m totally into it. I love that even after all these years something as simple as that can open up all sorts of options within my closet!

An heirloom in the making
This look was largely inspired by this pin and I just love how everything came together. L’Envers kindly sent this beautiful wool cable knit sweater (linked below) for me to try out and my first impression is that it’s incredibly warm and very well made. It’s the kind of wool sweater that gets passed down through generations, only getting softer with wear.
I know I’ll be wearing it over fitted turtlenecks with jeans and snow boots throughout the winter so while I had the chance I decided to dress it up. I love the cropped length for layering over shirts and even before it arrived I knew I had to try it with my long white oxford. Since this combo was exciting enough on it’s own I opted for a sleek black bottom half comprised of skinnies and tall boots. Looking at how L’Envers has styled it in the product listing, it’s clear I was influenced from the start!
This look is warm enough for in and out of the car errands but if I was going to be outside longer I’d wear my camel coat on top.

MELANGE MEDLEY
I must give credit where credit is due and as such, I owe this look to the heap of clothing that’s been not just existing, but thriving, atop my laundry hamper. You know that pile that’s not ready for a wash but that hasn’t made it back onto the shelf yet either? Yeah, well, that’s where this outfit was conceived.
I saw the oatmeal cashmere mixed with the different charcoal greys and just thought the palette looked so comforting. I added all black accessories to ground the look and it’s definitely one I’ll be repeating soon.
The more I play with styling these jeans the more I like them! I wasn’t sure how the grey wash would work in my closet but I’ve been surprised by just how versatile they are. This wash works with cool and warm tones alike and the comfort fit is exactly as promised.
Ps. They’re still fully stocked and on sale for 30% Off until tonight. (Nov. 30, 2020)

Here’s a little preview of my latest blog post, which features 5 ways to style the Lofty Recycled Cashmere Sweater from Eileen Fisher! I’m so pleased to be working with the EF team again and continue to be inspired by the work they’re doing as a leader within the fashion industry.
The timing for this one worked out perfectly. We’ll be in the car for several hours today and this is a great travel outfit, I just swapped the slippers for real shoes. Presentable but still highly comfortable.
See all the outfits in this post and catch a fun styling video on my IGTV channel today too!

HOLIDAY DRESSING 101
With lots of holidays coming up I thought I’d put together a look that I typically wear to such occasions. While we may not be gathering in the traditional ways this year (nor should we be), it’s still nice to dress up a little for special days. My usual holiday style is all about elevated comfort (read: elastic waists and loose fits). I like to pair my favourite basics in luxe textures and curate a bit of drama through my colour palette.
In this case I’m wearing a black long sleeve tee that has a subtle drape and elegant bell sleeves. This is then fully tucked into a pair of wide leg silk pants in a rich caramel brown for a floaty high-waisted silhouette. My classic camel coat is an essential top layer for any cold weather occasion and some fuzzy accessories like my old shearling purse and an ivory beanie give the outfit a festive feel. A little gold pendent and my favourite tortoise hoops are the perfect finishing touches!
The beauty about a ‘fit like this is that it’s equally ready for a night with friends & family (one day!) or a night on the couch with a good book and a glass of wine.
Are you dressing up for the holidays this year? Or are you taking the opportunity to stay cozy in some loungewear all season long?

LUMBERJACK MEETS PRAIRIE MINIMALISM
Okay, so there’s a few themes happening in this look but I’m rolling with it! I wanted to see if I could dress this “shacket” up a bit since I’ve been wearing it with mostly casual or utilitarian pieces. I started by layering it over a fitted turtleneck, paired that with white denim, which I find, always adds a crisp feel to any outfits. Then I went for a sleek, block heeled boot for a boost of style and tossed my go-to bag over my shoulder. The result is a bit of a departure from my usual style but a fun one for sure!
These boots are making their first appearance on the blog but they’ve been getting tested out at home for several weeks now. I’d been very close to getting the black version of Poppy Barley’s Victoriana Boot last year but decided to wait and see if a warmer tone was in the cards. To my delight, they released them in thihs Danish Brown early this year and kindly offered to send me them.
This isn’t sponsored, nor are my PB links affiliated, however, Poppy Barley is a Canadian footwear and accessories brand that I think you’ll love to discover, if you haven’t already. They make some seriously comfortable boots, honestly you barely even notice that you’re wearing heels. All their high-quality leather goods are thoughtfully crafted in Mexico and made to last. There’s definitely a reason this brand has a loyal customer base so give them a look see if you have any boots or bags on your wish list.
For a little jog down memory lane you can see the first PB boots I had back in 2015 when I wore leather leggings and made Dave take my outfit photos in front of concrete walls. Do enjoy lol.

JEANS – 90’s CHEEKY JEAN – I wear a 26 in these. If you’re between sizes, size down.
BOOTS – gifted – VICTORIANA BOOT – Runs slightly small and I found a 7.5 was best for me and I usually wear a US 7. – Extremely comfortable, very well made and a Canadian company!

STRETCHING A SUMMER STAPLE
It’s a busy Monday so I’m keeping it simple (what else is new?) as I attempt to style some warm weather denim for colder temps.
I donโt think Iโve ever tried my summer jeans with so many warm tones but I quite enjoy how they balance each other out. It makes sense that faded blue and camel work though, since they’re complimentary within the colour wheel. Every now and then my first year colour theory course comes in handy!
As we head into colder months, think about the warm weather pieces you might be able to bring along. Itโs an easy way to make your closet work a little harder.
SHOP LOOK 23
COAT – THE CLASSIC CAMEL COAT – TTS I wear a Small – See my full *unsponsored* review on this piece here.

JEANS – PERFECT VINTAGE DENIM – This is the Fitzgerald wash and it looks lighter on the site than IRL. I find they run TTS but will feel snug at first. I wear my usual 26 in Madewell denim. Also available in a full-length inseam (slightly darker wash).
BOOTS – old – CARIE BOOT (similar style) – I’ve had these for several years and LOVE them. Aquatalia does a beautiful weatherproof boot.

DON’T MIND IF I DUSTER
Sorry, not sorry, for the subheading pun, that one was just too easy!
I usually like to balance loose elements with fitted ones but in this case I went ahead with all relaxed items. It’s easy-going and comfortable while the light colour palette keeps it feeling soft and fresh. Not to mention the fact that loose fits make it easy to layer underneath for an extra dose of coziness.
This duster vest is a couple of years old now but it remains a piece I reach for on the regular. I’ve long been a fan of this closet item because it’s versatility and functional qualities make it an ideal layering element. I can add it to essentially any outfit I’m wearing when I need a little extra warmth without having to fuss with an extra set of sleeves, as I would with a cardigan. If you’ve been considering a duster vest, I say go for it!
I’ll leave it there for today folks, hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
SHOP LOOK 22
VEST – old – WOOL DUSTER VEST – This piece is a cold weather staple for me. This one is originally from Only Child but no longer available. Linked to a very close option.
SWEATER – old – CASHMERE MOCKNECK – This style is no longer available but the linked option is quite similar.
JEANS – gifted | THE WHITNEY BOYFRIEND | Wearing my usual 27 and the fit is very relaxed through the seat and leg but fits well for a high waist.
BAG – gifted – ILSE MINI TOTE – I’m still testing this piece out so I’m reluctant to say too much, however, it is surprisingly roomy and highly versatile. Not to mention, it comes with a removable pouch that doubles as a clutch. 3 colour options available. | Use LEEV20 for 20% OFF any order at ABLE any time.
BOOTS – old – SNAKE PRINT BOOT – A neutral snake print boot can really add some punch to a minimal closet. I’ve linked to a boot option that I have in black that is a similar style.

COZY SQUARED
One of my favourite things about late fall weekends, is the opportunity to pile on all the knits and cozy up on the couch with a cup of tea and a toasty corgi. Snow has made it’s first major appearance here in Guelph and the cold air and fresh white blanket brings with it a quiet calm.
When I need an extra bit of warmth I like to hang a long scarf over my shoulders. It’s a staple in my cold weather styling.
Ps. Please excuse the wonky colour balance on these shots. The light in the studio is unpredictable this time of year and warmed up a lot while I was shooting this look. I didn’t notice until after the fact and still felt it was worth sharing. Just a reality of shooting in natural light.
SHOP LOOK 21
SCARF – gifted – RIBBED WOOL SCARF – I really like the long length of this scarf and the clever design with an opening for easy styling.
CARDIGAN – gifted 2019 – ANNA CARDIGAN – More on this lovely cotton classic in my original review and styling post. Comes in several colours and wool as well.
BASE LAYER – PIMA MICRO RIB LONG-SLEEVE – TTS I wear my usual Small and it’s fitted but not too tight. These are one of my most-loved basics and perfect for layering under knits.
PANT – gifted – LOUISE TROUSER – Another gem from the beloved European knitwear line L’Envers. TTS I wear the Small. They’re currently sold out but a waitlist is open.
KNEE SOCKS – TERRY SOCK – Knee socks are my secret weapon in the winter and KOTN does some great socks.
New customers can save 10% OFF their first order from KOTN with ‘LEEV10′ (no expiry).
SLIPPERS – gifted years ago – KYRGIES CLASSIC WOOL SLIPPERS – TTS I wear my usual 7 but I would size up if between sizes.

FRIDAY FEELINGS & CLOSET GAP FILLING
Happy Friday! This week was a whirlwind of deadlines, shoots, editing and adventure. I’m feeling pretty tired but creatively fulfilled, which is a state I’ll gladly embrace these days!
These new Cortina boots from Maguire (a Canadian footwear/accessories designer) have given my cold weather style such a boost and I’m so glad I decided to try them out. A practical, light colour winter boot was on my wish list from last year and these are filling that gap very nicely.
I cannot recommend end of season wish lists enough. They really help me stay focused on what I’ll actually wear. Then I end up adding pieces that advance my style and closet options rather than cluttering them. To create a list, all I do is grab a fresh page in my Notes app and jot down all the items that I’ve found myself thinking about throughout the season. Then when the time comes around to make additions, I know what I really need and can resist distractions much better.
It helps to do this while the season is fresh on your mind but you can create a seasonal wish list at any time. If you need some wish list tips and a template to use, feel free to download this one!
PS. I’ll be taking tomorrow off from screens but I’ll be back on Sunday with two new outfits for you!
SHOP LOOK 20
SWEATER – gifted – OVERSIZED ALPACA CREW – TTS oversize fit. I took my usual Small in this sweater and LOVE the fit. It’s relaxed enough to layer easy but still fits into coats just fine. This is one of my all time most worn and loved sweaters and has held up very well since last year. Lots of colours available.
PANTS – The Florence Pant is no longer in production but Cuyana does a gorgeous pair in silk charmeuse and I found an ETSY maker doing a similar style in a silk blend as well (great price point). If you’re open to Tencel then try the Cove Pant from Only Child for sure.
BOOTS – gifted – CORTINA SAND – TTS I got my usual 38 and wear a US7/7.5. – These boots are from Maguire, one of my favourite Canadian footwear designers. They come with a shearling insole but a thick sock will be needed for cold weather wear.
BAG – old – I love this mini tote so much and if I wear replacing it now, I’d be looking at this option for sure. It has a very similar look and feel with the added security of a top zipper.

The other sweater dress
Back in Look 14 (scroll down to see that one if you missed it) I mentioned that I currently have a total of 2 sweater dress in my closet. Well, this is the other one! You’ve likely seen it in the past but even after many years (5 & counting) it remains a cold weather favourite.
In an IG post earlier this year I shared a few reasons why it’s been a such keeper for me. Those reasons are:
- The design is streamlined and minimal so there are no trendy elements to โdateโ it.
- The Italian merino wool itโs made from has held its shape well and requires minimal laundering. I usually just wear a base layer underneath and dry clean once a season (max).
- The length is versatile and work appropriate but still cute enough for a dinner or night out. (little did I know at the time that those would be a thing of the past *whimpers quietly*)
- Itโs also forgiving when it comes to fit so it can accommodate fluctuations over time.
I thought I’d bring these notes up again as we head into the frenzy of Black Friday Sales. There can be some good opportunities to invest in pieces you’ll love for years but it’s important to consider the elements that make an item as timeless as possible.
Maybe take 10 minutes to revisit the older items in your closet that you still enjoy wearing. What do they have in common? What makes them pieces you return to time after time? Keep those notes in mind if/when you’re shopping next week.

SWEATER 2 – gifted – WHEAT TURTLENECK – Wearing a Size S and it’s relaxed. | This is probably the softest cashmere I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing. I just love everything The Curated puts out!
TIGHTS – gifted – LIA 100 DENIER BLACK TIGHTS – TTS I wear a M based on the size chart.
BOOTS – gifted – CORTINA SAND – TTS I got my usual 38 and wear a US7/7.5. – These boots are from Maguire, one of my favourite Canadian footwear designers. They come with a shearling insole but a thick sock will be needed for cold weather wear.

SAME BUT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT
You know those times when you wear an item like a t-shirt but you don’t think it’s quite ready for a wash? Well, that was the case with this striped one, so I decided to share the next look I’d planned to wear it with right away.
This outfit is exactly the same as yesterday’s (Look 17, below) except for the jeans and belt. I alway find it interesting to see the impact one element can have. For instance, yesterday’s look had more of a refined minimalist vibe, whereas this one reads more cool and casual.
I guess the moral of this story is pretty typical for these parts:
Repeat outfits, try new pairings and only wash your clothes if you need to!
Today I’m in the office shooting a fun collaboration with a brand I adore and I can’t wait to share the results next week. Have a good one folks!

EARNING MY STRIPES
I’m sharing today’s outfit late but it’s been a great day so far. A few projects I’ve been working on BTS are finally starting to take shape and creative challenges I might have shied away from previously suddenly don’t feel so daunting. Sometimes it’s hard to measure career progress when you work alone but I’m taking this as a sign of growth!
Another win for today’s score sheet is this quintessential black striped tee. Why these are such a tough piece to come across is beyond me. I’ve been on the lookout for a classic, sailor stripe tee shirt in black and white with a relaxed fit for so long and this one (linked below) fits the bill perfectly.
I dusted off my forever favourite black flares to pair with my stripes and pulled on pointed toe boots and a long cardigan for coziness. The finishing touch was a minimal leather tote and I was ready to run a few errands (with a mask on of course).
Now it’s back to some behind the scenes business for me but enjoy your evening!
SHOP LOOK 17
CAMEL CARDIGAN – old – This long cardigan is a closet hero for sure and I always get asked for similar options since the original maker is no longer producing them. Here are a few that I would recommend checking out in a range of price points:

STYLE FROM THE HEART
In a recent instagram caption, my friend Elim Chu (@elim_chu) wrote (in part):
“Style lives, and is expressed, within EVERYONE. To be considered stylish requires the approval of others. Life is too fcking short. Wear what makes the heart feel good.“
This sentiment deeply resonated with me and connected so many thoughts that had been floating around in my mind. I wanted to share it with you here today because it’s such an important reminder about how we approach self-expression.
So when you make your next style choice, make it from the heart and not for the approval of others. That’s precisely what I did with this outfit and it’s one of my all-time favourites.
Elim is a really great person to follow for all sorts of important perspectives and information. You can also read Elim’s Style Profile, where she shared some nuggets of styling wisdom a little while back.
I hope your week gets off to a good start everyone!

THE HALFWAY MARK
I hope you’re having a good weekend. I know many places are facing second wave lockdowns and it’s really disheartening. While there isn’t one in effect yet here in Guelph, it’s likely to be the case soon.
I’m trying my best to remain optimistic and focus on the things I can control. For instance:
- Getting organized for the holidays (my ‘Tis the Season Pinterest board has lots of fun decor ideas)
- Making lists of all the tasty things I’d like to cook/bake (such as One-pot spinach & artichoke Mac & Cheese *insert uncontrollable drooling)
- Writing up my gift giving plans (more on those soon but check out last year’s gift guide for lots of affordable ideas.)
- Listening to comforting tunes (this playlist is a delight) and podcasts (This Is Love is a personal favourite).
It’s all a good distraction from the real world. How are you coping these days? I hope this space can continue to serve as a moment of calm and ease in your day. Thanks for tuning in!

TRIPLE ‘C’
This is one of my favourite fall outfits to wear. I’ve classified it as a triple ‘C’ combo, which stands for classic, comfortable, and cozy!
While I don’t wear a lot of dresses, I wear my sweater dresses (I have 2) A LOT in the colder months. They just make for such a easy and put-together outfit when paired with opaque tights (I really like these and ordered these for extra cold days) and an oversized coat. It’s a fool-proof outfit combo that always delivers.
This sweater dress is an older style but there is a new version (that’s slightly longer) and I have the oatmeal in my cart. I size up in sweater dresses so I can wear a base layer underneath and have lots of slouch in the fit.

FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH
Ever wonder about the history and folklore behind Friday the 13th? Well, this article is a good place to start.
Are you superstitious? Despite my better judgment, I must admit I am. When I used to compete in horseback riding I had lucky numbers, lucky socks, lucky shirts and even a lucky hair net for under my helmet (TMI?)! Of course, those things never made a difference but that small semblance of order and repetition brought some comfort and clarity in my mindset.
Thinking about this I see how the same logic (albeit flawed) can sometimes influence the clothes we wear. This houndstooth coat, for example, has traveled across the world with me and I’ve had so many fun times wearing it. Now that I’m older I can see that it’s far less about the coat and much more about the person I am when I wear it.
Next time you’re expecting your clothes to transform who you are, consider instead, the person you want to be when wearing them.

SWEATER – gifted – GASPARD CARDIGAN – I wear a Small and the fit is perfectly relaxed but not way oversize. It’s incredibly soft and cozy for how lightweight it is.

BELTED
I’ve been on the lookout for a great belt to wear with my open front coats. As much as I love the look of a closure free coat, it’s not always practical on cold windy days. My belt checklist included:
- High quality black leather
- No hardware (I didn’t want any buckles or domes)
- No velcro (a previous knot belt had a velcro strip with would routinely attack my knitwear)
- Adjustable fit for different coat thicknesses
When I spotted the Noemi Knotted Belt amongst ABLE’s accessories I felt confident that this would be the answer (ps. there’s a 20% off code below). It arrived a few weeks ago and after testing it out I can confirm that it is indeed what I’d been after. The leather is even better quality than I’d expected.
Without it, the wearability of my open coat collection was considerably shorter but now I can simply tie this on and I’m out the door. Windy weather be dammed!
This is just to say that being particular and patient comes in handy when building an intentional closet. It can take time to find what you’re looking for but ultimately you’ll be glad you waited.
COAT – old – I’ve found a couple of similar options for this beautiful wool coat (originally gifted by Elizabeth Suzann) here (ETSY similar to a Capote Coat), here (Eileen Fisher a bit more structured) and here (Jenni Kayne does a heavy sweater). / Visuals below

LONG LAYERS
Deadlines and deliverables have been the theme of the week and last night I found myself feeling pretty overwhelmed. I decided to scrap what was becoming a mess of a planning calendar and start fresh so I could approach the next few weeks with some better clarity. It definitely helped, but not nearly as much as corgi couch snuggles did.
Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed I lean on the reliable items in my wardrobe. I reach for pieces like comfy denim, black basics, a classic coat and one element to add some polish, such as these sleek, pointed toe ankle boots. Looking put-together always ends up helping me feel put together even if my to-do list has me flustered.
Now I’m headed into a full day of studio shooting and if all goes to plan they’ll be lots to share soon. Have a good one folks!

COAT – old – LONG CAMEL COAT – I bought this coat at a market when we were in London for our honeymoon three years ago. It’s become an integral part of my cold weather style and if I were buying this now I’d look at this option (from The Curated), the Rewool Overcoat (from Everlane) and this one is very similar (from Aritzia).
CARDIGAN – LONG BLACK CARDIGAN (CDN link here) – Fit is TTS, I wear a Small. This is a lightweight cardigan, great if you don’t need anything super warm. I’d say it’s good value for the price since it’s so soft and the cut is timeless.

NEW DAY, SAME BASE
This outfit might look slightly familiar because I used the same base (white jeans & portobello turtleneck) on Day 5 of this series (scroll down to see it). I liked the combo so much that I decided to try it out with a different sweater and accessories. I love this trick to come up with outfits quickly, with the guarantee that it’ll be something I feel good wearing.
This tonal mushroom moment up top is giving all the cozy, comforting vibes I could hope for. Something about layering tones in different textures always works for me. White jeans add a pop of fresh energy and streamlined black accessories anchor the palette.
Don’t be surprised if you see this base with some different pieces again soon!

BACK TO BUSINESS
Today has been a busy one in the office, hence the late update, but with the weather’s cooperation I was able to wear this IRL!
One closet category that’s been particularly neglected this year is my blazer collection. With no meetings, dinners out or calls for professional attire, mine have been, quite literally, collecting dust. With a streak of warm weather I took the chance to bring one of them out of hiding. It felt kind of great to wear something just because I felt like it, even if there was no real reason to.
If you’ve got an item you miss wearing, give it a try at home this week and see how it goes!
In other pressing news, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about full length denim. I may end up snipping the bottom 2″ off of these but I’m still testing them out with different boots in my closet. This grey wash is a new one for me too and I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and quality of Frank & Oak’s denim given the price point (< $100 CAD). These are the Rivetless Kim Comfort Slim Jean in case you’ve been looking for something similar. Nice high waist (no tailoring needed so I’d say they are curve friendly) with a slightly tapered leg. I got my usual size 27 but could have gone for a 26 for a more snug fit.
Best get back to it but I hope your week is off to a great start!

SUNDAY STAPLES
Just an easy-going combo for a sunny Sunday. We made up a tasty breakfast involving hash browns (I forgot how tasty those can be!) and took Dobby for a stroll around the neighbourhood.
An outfit doesn’t get much easier than leggings and an oversized sweater in black on black. I love the tunic length and curved hem on this piece. It’s a breeze to layer (I wear a fitted long sleeve underneath) and yet not too bulky to wear under a coat. After 6 years in my closet (this post proves it) this piece is still a favourite!
Enjoy your Sunday. I’ll catch you back here tomorrow!

THE USUAL WEEKEND SUSPECTS
This outfit should do quite nicely for celebrating the US election results! I’m so relieved and feeling very hopeful. As is true in Canada, there is a lot of work to be done, but this is a step in a positive direction. Cheers to all those feeling the same right now!
I’ll also be celebrating the fact that I made it through a full week in this 30 Days of Fall Outfits series and I must say, it’s been pretty fun so far. I’ve had a few DMs from folks to let me know that they look forward to the daily update and that this series has been motivating them to get ready each morning. I so appreciate that feedback and I kind of have to agree lol.
It’s been helpful to know what I’ll be wearing each morning and I’ve really enjoyed sharing content on IG and here on a consistent basis. Today I’m planning my next batch of outfits to shoot and have some fun ideas in mind! Thanks for tuning in and I hope this series continues to offer some thoughtful style ideas for you.
Wish you all a wonderful weekend!

FRENCH FLARE
Happy Friday! Despite the looooong days this week, Friday’s arrival felt abrupt. There were so many things I didn’t get to and yet every day was jam packed.
Today I’m in errand running / office mode. It’s another warm one so I opted for flats and some floaty layers with jeans. This one feels positively Parisienne and I love it.
I’m using a fun little styling trick on this one, which is to push my cardigan sleeves up so my shirt cuffs are fully exposed, then fold those over top. It adds just enough interest without feeling overly styled. I also layered a couple of dainty gold necklaces for an added dose of French flair.
I hope you’ve got something fun on the agenda tonight. It’s been a stressful week to say the least so don’t be afraid to turn off the news and tuck into something comforting and lighthearted tonight. I’m planning to make an angel hair pasta dinner for Dave and I to enjoy while watching The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix!

TURTLENECK TALK
Today is unseasonably warm and sunny so I thought this soft palette of muted tones, bright white & a pop of rich burgundy would be autumnal with a light-hearted vibe. BTW, I would just as soon wear this outfit in the spring.
Now, at the risk of sounding audacious, I must admit that I fancy myself a bit of a turtleneck connoisseur. Only because I’ve spent my entire life wearing them for at least 4 months a year. After some fast math, this adds up to an approximate 132 months spent in this cold weather staple!
I have a few sources for turtlenecks and one is KOTN*, a Canadian-based brand specializing in high-quality basics made primarily from Egyption cotton (more about traceability here).
I love wearing their fitted turtlenecks (link to all options) because they hold their shape with no risk of saggy elbows or droopy wrists. They also have a slightly shorter torso length, which makes them easy to tuck (no bunching around the lower hip). Each year they improve on them and this rendition is really good. They added 5% elastane to their beautiful grown, spun and sewn Egyptian cotton. This makes them easier to pull on and move in.
Anyway, that’s my two cents on turtlenecks for now. You’ve seen me in them already this year (here) and you’ll definitely see more as the temps drop! Feel free to let me know if you’ve got any Q’s about this particular brand or style.
If turtlenecks aren’t your jam, no prob, KOTN just released a collection of cotton knitwear and it looks GORGEOUS. For anyone with animal fibre sensitivities (or who prefers not to wear them) this is a great one to check out and the price points are around $110 – $150 CAD. I’m eying the Turtleneck Sweater in Chestnut and the Deep V Sweater in Cashmere.
*Full disclosure, I’m an ambassador for KOTN so my links are affiliate and the turtleneck I’m wearing today was gifted. I’ve been a customer of KOTN for years now and I’m thrilled to be partnering with them on an ongoing basis.

FOCUS ON THE CALM
Today I’m focusing on the things I can control. Small moments of mindfulness and happiness can be found amidst overarching uncertainty. For me those have looked like:
- Joining Dobby in his fetching glee – You can join in too over on @thecatandthecorgi
- Getting dressed in clothes that feel good – Soft fabrics, cozy layers & nothing that feels restrictive.
- Taking a moment for gratitude – Writing down 3-5 things I’m grateful for always helps to recalibrate my headspace.
- Breathing deeply 10 times – Close your eyes and count the breath in and count the breath out until you reach 10 or more.
No matter what the day brings, I know these small actions will make it a better one.
If those ideas aren’t for you, consider one small action you can take to bring some calm to your day. Maybe it’s some time in nature, a warm bath, an episode or two of your favourite show or an hour spent screen-free.
If you’re feeling anxious about the future, I always find that writing out my worries helps to ease their power over me.
Wherever your head’s at today, thanks for joining me here!

CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC
It’s a big day for all the US-based folks who may be reading this and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the election goes well. In 2016 I thought there was no chance the current buffoon could be elected, so I’m not taking anything for granted. If you’re voting today, thank you for doing so and please stay safe.
Whenever I need some positive energy, I wear my Grandmother’s beautiful chain link bracelet. Whenever we used to sit together she’d put her hand on my wrist and the weight and warmth of the gold chain reminds me of her wonderful spirit and hearty laugh. It’s always a comfort during stressful times.
I’ve got a busy day in the office today, answering emails and prepping upcoming content, so I should be able to keep myself distracted. I opted for my typical WFH uniform, which is a long sleeve tee, flowy wide leg pants (elastic waist for the win), a sweater over the shoulders and some fuzzy slippers.

FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON
This morning we woke up to our first taste of winter weather and a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. Dobby couldn’t wait to get his little snout into it but I was a lot less enthusiastic. Luckily, much milder temps are in the forecast so the novelty of layering knits won’t wear off just yet.
Remember this post where I put my most cropped denim to the test with ankle boots? Well, I decided to test them out with proper winter boots and they actually worked out brilliantly! I wore a pair of knee socks underneath so that no skin would be exposed and now I’ve added one more denim & boot combo to my list of cold weather style options.
That’s all for today but I hope your Monday is going well so far!

QUARAN-JEANS
I’m kicking the series off with a super cozy, minimal look. The proportions are what I love about this one and it’s reminding me how black accessories can rarely go wrong. Whenever I want to create a sense of continuity in an outfit I just repeat the same colour or tone through all my accessories. In this case that’s my chunky scarf, cross-body bag and ankle boots.
I’m calling these my quaran-jeans because they’re almost as comfy as sweats but still have a denim look and feel. They were sent by the folks at ABLE, whom I’ve worked with over the yea rs and really like. I’ve tried a few of their denim styles in the past and this pair is the first one that worked instantly (the previous two I sent back).
These have a super soft feel (blend of 75% cotton 25% Lyocell), very relaxed fit, mid-width leg (for easy boot styling) and a high-rise waist (as always). They’re lightweight and the wash is a perfect vintage blue without any unnecessary whiskering.
In fact, I had another outfit planned for day 1 but I liked these jeans so much I decided they had to be the first look of the series. I’ve only worn them for a short while so I’ll share more looks with them throughout November!

I was wondering if you had more alternatives to Everlane? I’m not shopping there anymore given their bad behavior, perhaps you know of some more local Canadian alternatives?
Also wondering what you think of Frank & Oak?
Hi Alessandra! I’ve been meaning to share a post on this so I’m glad you asked! My top recommendations for Canadian alternatives to Everlane are:
Frank & Oak* (30% Off site wide right now!) – I’ve really liked all the pieces I’ve tried from them so far (Kim Jeans, Shacket, Long Sleeve)
KOTN* (use LEEV10 for 10% OFF your first order) – I love their basics and just ordered a bunch of socks from them.
FRANC is another great option for thoughtfully made basics.
ENCIRCLED* also does some great pieces and uses really comfy/sustainable materials.
IN THE US:
Check out ABLE* or TRADLANDS* & I’ve honestly been impressed with how MADEWELL* has been evolving their practices and that they just took the 15% Pledge.
Hope that gives you some good leads!
*Full disclosure, I’m an affiliate with these brands ๐
Oh my gosh, Lee there is so much to take in here (I mean this in the best possible way)! It was wonderful to follow long and you’ve given me an enormous amount of inspiration.
I absolutely love look #16 and today’s look, #19. They both look super cozy and I’m loving the neutral palettes. I’ve always loved sweater dresses but it’s a bit of a struggle to find one that accommodates more petite people like myself! This is a bit off topic but I love your hairstyle! Do you just have front bangs that you part to the side, or?
I can’t wait for the rest of this months looks!
So glad you’re enjoying the series Emily ๐ Thank you! Yep, I have full bangs that I just sweep to one side. My stylish cuts them straight and then feathers to one side. I was blessed with a large forehead lol so I’ve pretty much had bangs most of my life.
Love so many of the looks, it’s hard to pick a favorite! Great inspiration — already ordered the Noemi knot belt and know it will get a lot of wear.
Thanks so much for tuning in Adele! I hope you love the Noemi Belt as much as I do! It’s such a unique and versatile piece. xo
Such a good series, Lee. Each day I think “oooh, that’s my favourite look” – and then change my mind the next day. Especially love today’s 12.30.2020.
This made my day Kris! Thanks so much for tuning in, I’m so happy you’re enjoying this series. xo
Loving a peek at your daily outfits Lee, especially the tonal layers in the last few days- that portobello color is gorgeous! I’ve been snapping some outfit pics of my own and hope to do a similar sort of post inspired by this one (for the days when I don’t forget to take a photo, and whenever I have enough time to upload them!)
Oh that’s great Hanusia! I’ll be sure to tune in when you publish ๐
Hello! Long-time reader but first-time commenter here… I really enjoy reading your posts so thanks for sharing ๐ I’ve had the Sรฉzanne Gaspard Gilet on my wishlist for some time now and I was wondering if you’ll be doing a full review of it any time soon? I got all excited when you hinted at it in your winter closet notes post back in March but it has only popped in on posts every now and again since then. Do you have the ecru or nude colour? I love the look but am concerned about it being too transparent and I have a pet peeve about seeing the line of short sleeves peeking through from underneath a cardigan… would really value your input ๐
Hi Tanya, Sorry to keep you waiting on that, it fell off my list of priorities and then all of a sudden it was summer! I still love the Gaspard (wearing it today!) and I have the Ecru/Cream colour. I tried it on over a dark tee after reading your question and the sleeves show. It’s sheer enough that short sleeves underneath in any colour other than nude will likely show. I’m not sure if that would be the case with other colours like camel, nude, or heather grey. It’s incredibly soft and such a classic style that I definitely recommend to anyone considering it. Hope that helps for now and I’ll get it back up top on my list of items to review!
Hi Lee, thank you so much for your input. I decided to take the plunge and treat myself to the gilet gaspard and I have no regrets ๐ It’s ridiculously soft and cosy! Looking forward to your full review nonetheless!
I’ve been looking for grey jeans; they are hard to find! Like the look of these and may have to try them out. Also, I like the longer length for winter. I’m in southern Ontario too and I find that ankle length or cropped pants leave that little gap where wind and snow creep in. I just got some Gap cords that are just above the ankle. I ordered the long ones and then hemmed to just below my ankle. I feel like this length will work better for winter.
This post has been so fun to check for updates! Thanks for all the outfit ideas!
Loving these! I’ve been drooling over The Curated turtleneck but unfortunately colour choices are limited… do you have any recommendations for a similar style in grey (Heather or charcoal!)
Thanks!
Hi Emma, I’ve been eying some styles from State Cashmere (nothing quite like The Curated however), and I’ve always had luck with Everlane’s Cashmere. Jenni Kayne does gorgeous knitwear but they’re a higher price point. I hope that helps and I’m sure The Curated with come out with more beautiful options in time as well. It’s worth waiting for IMHO.
I enjoy your website Lee and your style, but didn’t appreciate bringing political opinions in.

Such an amazing idea to share a new outfit everyday! Also I really like your first outfit, so classic and such a perfect everyday look!
Lots of Love,

Thanks so much Jeany! xo
I’ve been looking for jeans and decided to give these a try! I don’t have any in this color or cut, so that should make a fun new addition for the fall/winter wardrobe. Thanks for sharing, Lee.
That’s awesome Jen! I hope you like them as much as I do ๐ xo
Great idea this 30 days of outfits. Iโm sure that Iโll see something youโre wearing and suddenly remember that Iโve got something similar hiding in my closet just waiting to see daylight. This will be a good challenge to start wearing what Iโve got instead of buying new.

What a snow fall here in K-W! A winter wonderland!
I love this idea! Will happily join you. I was considering doing something along the same lines myself because I am also a bit uninspired at the moment.
I was also thinking about a theme week of sorts. But maybe I will just let go of that pressure and just try to incooperatie something I have not worn in a while every day.
That’s wonderful Joy! So happy to have you joining in. I love your theme of the week concept! Maybe I’ll try that when I run out of ideas by day 8 or so lol. Hope your November is off to a good start. xo
Great idea and look, Lee – wonderful start to winter dressing. The jeans are so good.
Thanks so much Kris! Only the comfiest jeans allowed these days ๐ Hope you’re staying safe and warm. xo
