FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who takes your photos?

I take the vast majority of my own photos in my home studio. For style posts I use a tripod and remote shutter control. Sometimes when the weather permits I ask my partner Dave to help me on location. Anytime a post features photos by a photographer other than myself or Dave I will make a note.

What camera do you use?

I use my reliable old Canon Rebel T5i and alternate between a 50mm lens and 24mm lens.

Do you blog for a living?

I do! I started Style Bee in 2013 and at the start of 2018 I took the leap to full-time. I have been working in the design and advertising industry for the past 10 years after graduating from OCADU in Toronto.

Why start another style blog?

In the spring of 2013, when Style Bee began, this was one of the first questions I asked myself. The traditional: new, now, shop and add blogging mindset never felt right to me and I saw an opportunity to share a different approach to shopping and building a closet. I also felt there was space in the Canadian blogging arena for someone with discerning taste to focus on quality, comfort and simplicity, which is what I strive to do.

Where are you located?

After spending the better part of a decade in Toronto I now live with Dave and our two furry children (Evie the feline and Dobby the canine) in the city of Guelph, Ontario.

What size are you?

I usually wear a size 2-4, small and size 26 or 27 in jeans. I am 5’7.5 and approximately 125 lbs.

Do you accept free product or payment in exchange for features?

Yes, however, I am very particular about which brands I partner with on Style Bee. If I feel a brand closely shares my values and aligns with the aesthetic I aim to achieve on Style Bee I will collaborate with them on a post. I only work with brands that are completely open to my genuine, unscripted opinion and interested in creating a unique story about how their product fits into my life. I work hard to choose brands that I feel my readers would be interested in and that I myself would shop from. Typically I work on a commission basis but occasionally receive a flat rate fee. Partnerships terms are always disclosed in the post. Please see more on Style Bee policies here.

What makes your style unique?

I think it’s a combination of keeping things simple, comfortable and timeless with a keen attention to details. I try to focus my budget on pieces for both my closet and home that I will be able to enjoy for years to come with smatterings of fun, unique items that set a look apart.

Do you use Photoshop?

Yes. I use photoshop as my primary image editing tool. Typically editing involves image sizing, slight exposure adjustments, colour correction and occasionally the removal of undesired lint and/or dog hair. I do not alter my body or facial features in any way, EVER! How the clothes look on me in a photo is how they look in real life.
