Look 28 – Party Time

12.03.15

I dare say it’s time to start thinking about what to wear for all the Holiday festivities headed your way. My favourite way to procrastinate is to outfit plan, so I decided to put together a look that’s perfect whether you’re headed to an office Christmas shindig, a secret Santa reveal or a friend’s house party. Something that will keep you cozy, comfy and most importantly chic as ever! Cue some monochrome goodness with layered knits, leather leggings and some simple but stand out accessories, oh, and the most perfect party booties I’ve ever worn!

I’ve searched high and low for the perfect pair of black leather boots to wear during the holidays and at long last we’ve found each other! I was looking for boots that were all black, leather, with a sleek design and really well-made. As fate would have it, I discovered Poppy Barley, a Canadian-based shoe company that’s making beautiful shoes with both ethics and a superior fit in mind. Their shoes are handmade to order in a family owned factory in León, Mexico, which you can learn more about here. I would love to visit this incredible city, known as the shoe capital of the world.

As soon as I saw the Classic Black Bootie I knew they were what I was looking for but as someone with narrow heels and a high arch, finding elegant, well-fitting shoes is never easy, let alone cute little ankle boots. But to my delight, one of the many good things about ordering shoes from Poppy Barley is that you get to choose your shoe width (narrow, standard and wide). The second I put them on I understood why this brand has been causing such a stir. They are AMAZING. I ordered my usual size 7, narrow, and I don’t think they could possibly fit any better. The insoles are crazy padded too, so a whole night dancing to Mariah’s Christmas hits ain’t no thang.

I’ll be wearing these puppies all season with layered looks like this one, with dresses over black tights and even with my favourite jeans and chunky sweaters. I seriously implore you to take a peek if you’re in the market for new footwear. I also love their classic oxfords and tall la hacienda boots (with custom calf widths available)! And if you’ve got anyone on your very VERY nice list consider the Poppy Barley Holiday motto to “Gift less and gift better.”

Happy shopping and party hopping friends!

I was so happy to discover them! I’m seriously blown away by the quality and comfort of these boots. Canadian shoe brands are few and far between so I’m thrilled to be collaborating with PB. Great to hear you love them too! xo
