Style Bee Canadian Shopping Guide - Clothing

CANADIAN SHOPPING GUIDE – CLOTHING

10.02.19

It’s time to shine the spotlight on some incredible Canadian talent with a new series of shopping directories. We’ll be starting with the Style Bee Canadian Shopping Guide for Clothing, which covers everything from underwear to outerwear!

I decided to break the original Canadian guide (which is almost three years old now) into categories and publish them as individual posts (clothing, accessories, homewares etc.) instead of one behemoth list. This will allow me to be more thorough and will also give readers a more targeted compilation of sources for the specific item they’re looking for. You’ll be able to find them in the Style Directory going forward.

My goal for these directories is to compile a comprehensive list of Canadian brands and designers that I consider to be setting the bar very high through design aesthetic, unique offerings and craftsmanship. Essentially, if my personal style jives with you, this list will point you to some incredible Canadian clothing lines!

I hope you’re as excited to explore this list as I was to create it!

HOW DID THESE BRANDS MAKE THE LIST?

I focused on brands that are thoughtfully making their products in Canada with a careful selection of some that are producing elsewhere. None of these brands have paid to be on the list, however there are some affiliate links included, which means Style Bee may earn a small commission from a sale, at no additional cost to customers.

I’ve also included a short note about each one, in many cases my favourite piece currently available and the general price point (see the legend below).

This list focused on womenswear but I’ve noted when a brand is unisex or when menswear is also available. Look for *Style Bee Favourite* for my top recommendations that I’ve personally shopped from.

LOOKING FOR SIZES 18+?

Many on this list offer an extended size range but I highly recommend exploring The List by Marielle Elizabeth for an excellent selection of 18 + brands.

NOT IN CANADA?

No problem! As far as I can tell the vast majority of these shops and designers ship internationally.

SHARING IS CARING

Please feel free to bookmark or share this list with your friends and family! I put a tremendous amount of time and work into this directory so please credit if you decide to share online. If you find a brand you love and choose to shop from them, I’d be grateful if you let them know where you discovered them.

  1. Cathy says:

Did anyone ever tell you that you’re an overachiever Ha! This is a comprehensive yet thoughtful list. (Easier to do a dump, but not you.)

As a Yank, I like to support my own country’s artists but will study this list carefully. I should think globally too. Thanks for all the hard work you put into every post. Great job.

    • Lee the Bee says:

Haha thanks Cathy! That has been mentioned from time to time 😛 So appreciate you taking the time to explore the directory! With the exchange rate you can save a pretty penny shopping from Canada. xo

  2. Jo says:

Do you have a recommendation for a Fall/Winter jacket that would fit the voluminous sleeves of a Babaa cardigan, or any of the bulkier styles that are in fashion now? It’s been so hard to layer in the PNW!
I’ve got a thrifted army surplus jacket that looks cool, but is sometimes quite casual as a look.

    • Lee the Bee says:

Hi Jo, The spots I’d look first on this list are:

LLOYD – They do a great overcoat and factory coat.
HORSES ATELIER – Their Alchemical coat is a dream and perfect for over big sweaters.
SMYTHE – Also does beautiful outerwear.
VESTIGE STORY – Has a super lovely quilted jacket right now, very Lauren Manoogian.

I love vintage coats because they were often designed with roomier sleeves up until the late 90’s. I also adore my The Curated Classic coat too. Hope that helps! xo

  3. Laurie A Leclair says:

Thank you for including Vestaire! Months ago I fell in love with the “Be not defeated by rain” T and then forgot to note down where I found it. I will absolutely mention you when I order it! Love your work, BTW!

  4. Elizabeth Johnson says:

Thank you so much for updating and expanding your list! It’s so nice to see CAD!
