6 Small Canadian Brands To Know

04.06.22

It’s been a minute since I published a roundup of Canadian brands that are on my radar but I’m always on the lookout for gems to share with you. Instead of just adding to my giant directory (which you can find here), I thought it could be fun to share small collections of brands and designers every so often in more digestible posts.

Today I’m kicking things off with 6 women-owned, independent, Canadian-based brands to explore and support should they speak to you and your closet/living needs.

Let’s get right into it then!

This post was not produced in partnership with any brands mentioned and does not contain any affiliate links. All opinions are my own. Thanks for tuning in to support Style Bee with your readership!

BOHÈME

Neutrals, oversized silhouettes, natural materials and relaxed tailoring are a consistent theme within the BOHÈME line. Designed by Sarah Shabacon, a style icon in her own right, and made in Canada.

A BRONZE AGE

Romantic, playful, and effortless, are a few of the adjectives I’d use to describe the A BRONZE AGE aesthetic. This line of bags, accessories and ready-to-wear styles is both designed and made in Vancouver Canada. Think voluminous sleeves and tiered dresses in vintage inspired patterns and punchy palettes. Each piece is a total delight.

CATHERINE & CO.

I shared this brand in a recent Style Bee newsletter (sign-up here or below this post) and now that I’ve literally burned through both of the beautiful scents I tried (BAMBU and NTOKÍYA), I can attest that Catherine & Co. does some really lovely candles. I’ve just placed an order for 2 more (JANE and RETROGRADE) cannot wait to try them out.

SAMARA

SAMARA is a collection of timeless, minimal, high-quality accessories made from a range of cruelty-free leather alternatives. I love how restrained the designs are and the colour ways are beautiful too. If you’re in need of a great bag for work or travel, this is a good spot to start.

SUPER CRUSH

During the warmer seasons it’s always nice to have a chic way to pull your hair back or throw it up when you want it out of your face or off your neck. I’m a big fan of a tortoise accessory so when I discovered Super Crush hair clips (co-founded by a mother/daughter duo) I was thrilled. They also offer combs, headbands and scrunchies too.

LEFT ON FRIDAY

When a swimwear brand claims to offer dig-in-free fits, supreme softness, gentle compression, quick dry fabrics, plus fade and snag resistance, well, colour me curious. Founded by two female athletes and former Lululemon product designers, Left On Friday, is all about bathing suits that you can move and feel good in. With lots of minimalist styles and a vast array of colours, this line is worth a look as we head into prime swimming season.
