Loungewear Looks 1 + 2

03.21.17

Time to dig into some cozy, casual everyday loungewear looks! Although I was a little apprehensive about dedicating a whole week to my loungewear capsule I decided that this was actually a great opportunity to highlight ways we can feel stylish even in our comfiest clothes. Regardless of whether or not anyone else sees them! Plus, now that I’ve started putting these outfit posts together I’m even more excited about the positive influence this new and improved Responsible Loungewear Capsule is having on my life.

As someone who works from home I find that being in the right mindset is key to maintaining a productive schedule. That’s one reason why I like to get dressed and ‘ready’ for work, even if I just leave the house to run errands, grab coffee or walk the dog, it’s important that I feel presentable. Now, my work-life balance is far from exemplary but I’ve found if I actively change out of my ‘day’ clothes or my ‘work’ wear and into something more relaxed I can switch gears much easier after a long day at the computer. Even if I’m still at my desk, somehow being in clothes that feel like ‘home’ more than ‘work’ helps alleviate some stress from my general mindset. Whatever works right?

So here’s a look at two super simple, casual-chic looks I love to wear after my ‘work day’ is done.

LOOK 1

This one is my go-to right now. It’s a fail-safe formula that feels totally chill but still a little bit put-together. The minimal grey and black palette makes it so easy to wear all the time too.

So this tunic/sweater is RIDICULOUSLY comfy and super soft, yet the contemporary cut makes it feel much more polished than a sweatshirt. I love how it easily layers over tanks and tees and how it has a perfect side slit that lets you access pockets and gives it movement to keep from being boxy. I like to cuff the sleeves just a bit for a touch of contrast but that’s only when I think about it.

It looks great over all my loungewear bottoms but these easy black jersey pants are the perfect contrast in colour and volume to balance it out.

Then I just add a beanie and my slippers to stay cozy while I cook up a tasty dinner, work later at my desk or catch up on Netflix on the couch!

TO GO OUT: I’d swap my slippers for my Mars Boots and toss my wool cocoon coat on over top of the tunic for a relaxed, slouchy but still sophisticated look. No need to switch too much up on this one!

LOOK 2

Now this look has Saturday morning written all over it!

We usually try to carve out at least one relaxed morning on the weekends and this outfit is my go-to. I just slip on these fabulously soft French terry pants, tuck in a fresh tee, step into my slippers and toss this long grey duster over top.

Speaking of this duster. To be honest, I really wasn’t sure I wanted to invest quite so much (about $275 CAD) into a piece for my loungewear capsule, hence why it spent weeks in my shopping cart, but I’m SO glad I did. This piece has been a total game changer for me and I kid you not, I’ve worn it every single day since it arrived. The weight is perfect, the heathered colour hides lint and it’s made from a super sleek wool which doesn’t itch, pill or lose it’s shape. Needless to say, it’s become an instant closet workhorse.

So having had such a revelation about loungewear investments, my recommendation is to splurge on something that’s both luxuriously comfortable and highly functional to wear at home. It’ll make all the difference to your lounge life, I promise!

TO GO OUT: Well, let’s not and say we did. Instead I reserve this one for a morning spent brewing coffee and flipping through the newspaper or a good interior design mag.

Would you mind sharing what size City Sweater you’re wearing? I’ve been thinking of ordering one, and I love how yours fits!

    • Lee the Bee says:

Hey Christy, I’m wearing a size small in the city sweater. I’m 5’7 and 125 lbs for reference. It’s my new favourite sweater for sure! Xo

This is such a great series and is really inspiring me to put some time into my lounge wear. I often think I get dressed well/put effort in for work and going out but usually wear my old grotty clothes around home where I am mostly with my partner, poor him! I am coming in to winter in NZ and warm, comfy, stylish loungewear seems very necessary! Thanks again for some inspiration.

    • Lee the Bee says:

Thanks so much Tania! I was in the exact same mindset for so long too. I can’t tell you what a difference it’s made to have some nice after work pieces at the ready. I’ve found I get way more use out of my day/work clothes now too since I take them off before they get crumpled on the couch or splattered while making dinner! haha Glad to hear this series has been helpful! xo

That duster is just phenomenal! I totally get why it was your splurge item. Also, bravo on putting together a beautiful loungewear capsule – I love your totally polished and sophisticated lounge look.

Thanks Anna! I just couldn’t find anything quite as perfect so I took the plunge, no regrets! I so appreciate the kind words about my capsule look and feel. Such a confidence boost 🙂 xo

  4. Martine says:

    I love the Lela Trousers!!!!!
They look so comfy but stylish at the same time.
    Also the duster looks great!
I don’t have the budget to spent so much on a cardigan/duster but I will really do my best to also make me a comfy, stylish loungewear wardrobe.
One question: I always need to cover my neck otherwise I get cold very easily.
A turleneck isn’t for me because of my rather large boops….
    What do you recommend?

    • Lee the Bee says:

Thanks Martine! Aren’t the Lela trousers so good!? I know, the cardigan was a major splurge but it’s already made such a difference. Keep an out for Eileen Fisher sales on Nordstrom because there are some excellent deals. Just remember to size down!

To keep my neck cozy I usually just throw on a big scarf as a shawl. The duster has a bit of a collar which helps and with my hair down and a beanie on I find my neck doesn’t get too cold. Hope that helps! xo
