10 Warm Winter Outfits To Try The Season

10 Warm Winter Outfits To Try This Season

12.22.23

This winter is going to be all about recreating outfits I’ve loved in the past so I thought it would be helpful to share some of those here on the blog. I’ll be breaking down the components of each one so they’re easy to replicate with pieces that you might have in your wardrobe.

Let’s take a look at them all shall we?

LOOK 1

This is one of my go-to looks for holiday events because it’s so comfortable but still feels sophisticated and polished. A black sweater dress will never do you wrong when it comes to a dressy winter look.

Style Bee - 12 Winter Outfits to Try This Season

THE COMPONENTS:

LONG CHARCOAL WOOL OVERCOAT (relaxed structure)

BLACK TURTLENECK SWEATER DRESS (comfy, timeless, warm & simple)

BLACK OPAQUE TIGHTS (keep the base minimal)

BLACK KNEE HIGH LEATHER BOOTS (add a contrasting texture)

LIGHT NEUTRAL BAG (softens the palette)

PEARL TEARDROP EARRINGS (add a touch of classic elegance)

LOOK 2

This one is great for a super cold day when you want to be really warm but still keep the look minimal and intentional. I rely on monochromatic palettes a lot in the winter to keep all the layering from feeling too busy.

Style Bee - 12 Warm Winter Outfits To Try This Season

THE COMPONENTS:

LONG PUFFER COAT (I love a black puffer but this taupe one is a great alternative to soften winter palette)

FITTED TAUPE TURTLENECK (A nice warm neutral alternative to grey)

TAUPE CARDIGAN (Layering a tonal knit gives the look depth)

BLACK LOUNGE PANT (Easy to layer over knee socks)

TAUPE LUG SOLE BOOT (Boots in a soft neutral tone keep the look feeling lighter)

CREAM TOQUE (A light accessory around the face freshens up the palette)

LOOK 3

This one is great for milder winter weather or days when I’m hopping in and out of the car so I don’t want to overheat in a puffer coat. I really like a cream or soft neutral hoodie because it feels relaxed but not as casual as loungewear. Plus, you can always pull the hood up if it’s blustery out.

Style Bee -HOUNDSTOOTH COAT, CREAM HOODIE, 90'S JEANS AND CHUNKY BOOTS

THE COMPONENTS:

MID LENGTH HOUNDSTOOTH COAT (Any classic pattern works)

CREAM HOODIE SWEATER (If you can pull a colour from the coat that helps the look feel intentional)

VINTAGE FIT DENIM (A classic straight leg or gently tapered leg is great over ankle boots)

CHUNKY BLACK CHELSEA BOOTS (A lug sole is functional and also grounds the look)

BLACK CROSSBODY BAG (Keeps the palette streamlined)

LOOK 4

This is my favourite comfy-chic look for days at home in the winter. It’s warm enough to wear outside with the dogs or to grab wood for the fire and keeps me super toasty inside while I curl up with a good book or work on my computer.

Style Bee - CAPOTE COAT, RIB KNIT, LOUNGE PANTS, CONVERSE AND A KNOT BAG

THE COMPONENTS:

SWEATER COAT (The bigger and cosier the better. This IS the outfit.)

RIBBED KNIT TOP (Adds texture and warmth)

BLACK LOUNGE PANT (Keeps the look soft and easeful)

CONVERSE SNEAKERS (Swap these out for slippers inside or winter boots if it’s snowy)

KNOT TOTE (Any bag could work with this look)

LOOK 5

Here’s a good one for days when you want to forego the puffer coat but still stay very warm. I love how this one mixes charcoal greys and warm neutrals throughout. I stand by the sentiment that good winter accessories are your best bet when it comes to being warm and creating a look that feels stylish.

THE COMPONENTS:

SHEARLING EAR MUFFS (Functionally warm without the hair compression of a hat)

CHARCOAL BLANKET SCARF (A big scarf adds an interesting proportion and functional warmth)

LONG WOOL OVERCOAT ( Keeps cold drafts off the leg)

VINTAGE DENIM (A fail safe option)

LIGHT NEUTRAL BOOTS (Keep the look from feeling heavy)

BROWN CROSS BODY BAG (Adds a rich chestnut tone to the palette)

BLACK LEATHER GLOVES (Keep your hands warm without the bulk of mittens.)

Keep the base look minimal too with tonal layering. I personally love a fitted turtleneck and relaxed crewneck.

LOOK 6

This one is a couple of years old but still a go-to for when I want to feel dressy without sacrificing any comfort. I love a tunic length (hits at the upper-mid thigh) knit and a flowy silk pant as an elevated combo in the winter. I just wear knee socks under my pants and pair them with tall ankle boots so keep my legs warm. It’s the kind of look that’s perfect for a night in or out with friends or family.

THE COMPONENTS:

MINIMAL CASHMERE OVERCOAT (A coat that’s streamlined always feels elevated.)

TUNIC LENGTH KNIT (Both practical for warmth & so easy to style.)

FLOWY WIDE LEG PANTS (I love silk for it’s drape but Tencel or Jersey are great too.)

SUEDE ANKLE BOOTS (Suede gives any look a luxurious feel.)

A UNIQUE CROSSBODY BAG (Bonus points for a bit of blingy hardware.)

STATEMENT EARRINGS (A statement earring can add interest to a minimal look without fuss.)

LOOK 7

Here’s another easy winter look that’s dressier but still super comfy and warm. A relaxed fitting maxi dress layers easily over leggings and a thermal shirt to keep you warm while you twirl the evening away. I tend to style long dresses in the winter with a sleek black boot and then add a long overcoat with cozy, cream accessories to tie the look together.

THE COMPONENTS:

RELAXED MAXI DRESS (I like something with a lot of movement like this tiered linen option.)

BLACK LEGGINGS (Like tights, but even warmer.)

TALL BLACK GLOVE BOOTS (My boots hit mid calf but a knee high would be even warmer.)

GOLD JEWELRY (Adds polish to the look.)

A LONG OVEROCOAT (I tend to prefer a long coat over a long dress to maintain the proportions.)

CREAM ACCESSORIES (Matching accessories in a light colour helps to keep the palette soft.)

LOOK 8

This one is a staple when I’m interested in a classic palette with texture and tailoring but nothing too restricting or fussy. A pair of black trousers with a lightweight ribbed knit is a truly timeless combo. Adding a statement coat and a sturdy boot give this refined base some strength and energy.

THE COMPONENTS:

FITTED RIBBED KNIT (I love these as a cosy base in winter)

BLACK TROUSER (A tailored alternative to jeans or lounge pants)

BLACK LEATHER BELT (Adds structure to the look)

CHUNKY CHELSEA BOOTS (Practical and helps to ground the look)

A STATEMENT COAT (When you need to wear a coat a lot it’s great to have an option that makes the look)

LOOK 9

As I mentioned with LOOK 2, monochrome palettes are my go-to during the winter to keep a layered look feeling uncomplicated. Charcoal gray is an easy colour to wear in the winter since it hides lint (or pet hair) much better than black and can tend to feel a bit softer as well. I like to mix up different shades and textures to keep it interesting.

THE COMPONENTS:

FITTED BLACK TURTLENECK (A winter staple for me)

CHARCOAL CASHMERE CARDIGAN (Any chunky knit could work but I love an oversize cardigan)

WASHED BLACK JEANS (These are a versatile alternative to black jenim)

CHUNKY CHELSEA BOOTS (Practical and helps to ground the look)

A CHARCOAL PLAID COAT (I love a pattern on my overcoat to give some interest to a simple base)

LOOK 10

This look is one I wore a lot last winter and I’m sure it’ll have another period in heavy rotation. Leggings paired with a super long, super oversize shirt, is just an easy combo that always delivers comfort without feeling too casual. I love to layer a white base tee underneath for warmth and pull on chunky boots with an oversize coat to go out.

THE COMPONENTS:

WHITE BASE TEE (For warmth and in case you want to wear the shirt open indoors)

OVERSIZE OXFORD SHIRT (Extra long is key for me so that the piece looks intentional and balances the tight fit of the leggings)

BLACK LEGGINGS (I love a deep black legging over a grey or soft black as it feels a but elevated)

CHUNKY CHELSEA BOOTS (A knee high boot would also work but a boot that has visual presence is key)

CAMEL OVERCOAT (I’m wearing a camel coat above but any coat with a roomy fit will be great)

BONUS

While most of the outfits above are refined and thoughtfully put-together, this is the kind of outfit you’ll find me in during the coldest weeks of winter. A cozy sweater, puffer coat, with my socks pulled over my pants and all the warmest accessories. The only style advice I have for deep winter is to wear whatever gets you outside for a bit of fresh air and some sunlight!
