Simply Festive + A Giveaway {Now Closed}

12.15.17

Happy Friday folks! I’ll start off by extending a HUGE thank you for all the wonderful support I received on my last post. If you missed it, I announced that I’ll be taking Style Bee on full-time in the new year and I cannot even wait! Your enthusiasm and positivity really means so much and has helped make this leap of faith a whole lot less terrifying. Merci beaucoup!

Now can someone please tell me how the heck it’s already mid December? This holiday season really snuck up quick on me despite all my efforts to have things under control. C’est la vie I suppose but it just means I’ll be streamlining my approach to holiday style and keeping my looks super simple while still a little fun and festive. Luckily I’ve got a few key tricks to help make that happen. I’m excited to be sharing those in the post today along with a very special giveaway from ONLY CHILD, one of my all-time favourite responsible brands. Since we’re all short on time these days let’s get straight to it!

Today’s post will cover:

  • How to WIN your favourite ONLY CHILD piece! Yep, whichever one you want!
  • My 6 go-to holiday style tips that can work for any closet!

ONLY CHILD GIVEAWAY

Win your favourite piece from the FW17 Collection!

ONLY CHILD, created by Haley Tucker (aka indie designer extraordinaire), was one of the first independent brands I fell head over heels for when I was starting out with responsible style. As soon as I discovered the line I knew it was going to be a forever fave. That was in 2015 and I’m still a HUGE fan of every collection that Haley thoughtfully designs and meticulously crafts right in her studio in Oakland, CA. Over the years of working together, Haley and I have become pals and I’m so grateful to have connected with such a hard-working, funny, talented and genuine woman in this industry. Plus it’s nice to know a fellow only child who’s as obsessed with her pup as I am with mine. If you don’t already, be sure to give @only_child a follow on Instagram. You’ll love Haley’s laid-back style, hilarious anecdotes and I basically live for cameos from Penny the pup.

I was absolutely smitten with the FW17 collection (no surprise!) and being a total Cardiff Coat addict and could barely contain myself when I saw that an olive wool version would be released. I’ve honestly worn it nearly every day since it arrived and have found it’s the perfect top layer for my chilly office. I love it dressed up a bit for a look like this one or over a basic tee and jeans. It’s super soft, cozy and the muted olive green goes with all the neutrals I love to wear. This one will take me through the colder months and into early Spring when I can swap it out for my cotton canvas alternative. I love this piece for it’s easy collar, perfect past the hip length, rollable sleeves and deep pockets. It also folds up quite small and doesn’t wrinkle, which is great for traveling!

Now for the good news! I know many of your are already big fans of ONLY CHILD so I’ve teamed up with Haley to offer one lucky Style Bee reader an item of their choice from the collection!

MY 6 GO-TO FESTIVE STYLE TIPS FOR ANY CLOSET

Feeling good about how you present yourself over the holidays might seem like a small thing but this time of year can be stressful for a lot of people (calling all my fellow introverts!) and I’ve found that once I feel good about the surface elements the internal anxiety often backs off too. This allows me to be more present with the people I’m around and enjoy myself a whole lot more. If you feel the same about this time of year maybe give one or two of these tips a try to see if that helps take the edge off some holiday stress.

1 – MONOCHROME – Whether it’s festive greens in muted tones like this look or greys, or creams or even black on black, I find monochrome is the way to go for an easy, chic, festive feel. It need not be continued throughout the whole outfit, just base top and outer layer are all you need to achieve the look. But if you’re up for a head to toe approach that’s great too!

Here are a few examples: Cream and Ivory, Black on Black, Taupe Twice (pinterest), Grey on Grey, Double Oatmeal (pinterest). Also LOVE this look with a red sweater and red pumps (pinterest).

2 – A BIT OF BLING – I’ve been off accessories for the last little while but recently began dipping back into my favourites for the holidays. A bit of gold is my personal go-to but any metal works to upgrade a simple look. In this case I kept my everyday gold studs in and added a statement pendant and thumb ring to boost the look. I adore the look of gold and green but silver and blue or grey make for a really great combo too.

Here’s a few more examples of simple ways to let accessories amp up an outfit (all pinterest): Go for one element like giant circle studs with a simple crew neck, layer a fun cuff or thick bangle over your sleeve, pile on some dainty strands under a collared shirt (bonus points for a low cut like this!) or get a glossy black mani and stack on the rings!

3 – LUXE FABRICS – I love the cooler months because I get to embrace all my favourite luxurious fabrics and knits. Whether it’s cashmere, silk, wool or lighter fibres like this linen shell, I say pile them all on until you’re happy! These silk pants are a new addition but I’ve been basically living in them. With a pair of knee socks and a few layers on top they’re totally warm enough and oh-so fun to dress up. Plus silk pants that feel like PJs are the ultimate hack to staying comfy during all the holiday hoopla. Basically, just base your outfit around pieces that feel great on your skin and you’re already well on your way.

4 – SIMPLE ‘DO – There are lots of fun ways to get creative with your hair over the holidays. Velvet ribbons, pretty clips, dainty up-do’s and the list goes on but honestly, I like to keep it super simple and go for a sleek style that keeps the whole look feeling deliberately understated. If you’re desperate for some texture opt for a loose wave because that always looks like you put in the effort without trying too hard.

5 – LOOSE LAYERS – There’s always a lot of eating and drinking at holiday parties and I’m never one to abstain from either at this time of year. To account for this, and just because I generally prefer them, I like to wear loose layers and forgiving waist-bands so I’m not worried about anything but catching up with my friends and family!

6 – BOLD LIP – If all else fails and you just want to wear jeans and a sweater that’s cool too! Just put on a bright red lip for an instant festive vibe. The plus side of a bold lip colour is that you always know which glass is yours! My personal favourite is Fringe by Kosås.

Here are a few ways to try the lip trick (all Pinterest): Cherry red lips + nails, Bordeaux pout with a black sweater or a rich red with a comfy sweater.

  1. Trish says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono! I’m an Oakland, CA girl too and totally support local businesses like Only Child. 🙂 The kimono is a great layering piece for the climate here so I would pair it with a fitted knit midi dress, or slim fit pants like the ES Cecelia pant and a simple tee or tunic. Both items paired with chic ankle boots.

  2. Anna says:

I would style the Cardiff coat in black with a grey flannel button down, buttoned all the way up, cropped skinny jeans, thick wool socks, brown suede booties, and silver dagger earrings.

  3. Stephanie L. says:

Love the cropped look and high waist of the dune wide leg pant! Would totally pair with ankle boots and a tucked in turtleneck to really show them off. And an added bonus them come in a petite size for us gals 5’4 and under ?

  4. Oh what an amazing giveaway! i am in love with this olive cardiff coat and would love to win it. thank you and Onlychild for this opportunity <3

  5. Whit says:

  7. Chloe O says:

I bought recently the arden top, and was really surprise by the fabrics. It’s looks amazing but also natural and very resistant !
I love the duster vest in olive, I would wear it with a black or beige merinos turtle neck, jeans and low boots.

  8. Rebecca says:

I think the Madelyn wool Kimono would look fantastic, especially with my slim fitting black taper-legged trousers, white silk blouse, black slippers with multi-coloured silk threads running through and a lovely cobalt coloured statement necklace my lovely partner bought me for my 30th last month.

Good luck to all who have put forward suggestions, I’m feeling so inspired by your tasteful and cosy choices.

And thank you Lee and Haley for putting on such a generous and exciting giveaway.

Best wishes to you and every success for your exciting venture in 2018.

  9. Sierra says:

Definitely the Bolinas Duster Vest in Olive. I’m loving vests as an alternative to jackets for this Bay Area winter. (I know, we’re spoiled!) I’d wear it with my black ES Artists Dress in silk crepe with boots for day, and Rachel Comey mules and big brass earrings for night. ❤️

I am in love with Madelyn Wool Kimono! I would style it with a pair of raw hem jeans, mules, white baggy t-shirt and scarf for spring/fall, and with the black turtleneck, straight leg blue jeans and patent leather Chelsea boots for winter. I might add a belt and turn it into a wrap coat to keep the wind away.

  22. Leah says:

as a mom of 2 tiny humans I love the wool Cardiff coat in olive. I have a couple of pieces in this shade and I find them very forgiving of tiny messy hands 🙂
I would wear this piece with jeans and a simple tshirt and one of my favourite merino scarfs. Simple and chic.

  23. Taylor says:

The Madelyn!! I would wear it with a white t, jeans, and boots. I would actually use it as a coat over everything all winter because I end up just wanting to be warm haha. With the sweater coat I would be warm AND put together. 🙂

  24. kayla says:

I’m pretty sold on the cardiff! love your styling.

  25. Clair says:

I love the Alta top – I’d pair it with some high waisted jeans or trousers (I have my eye on ones from Phaedra!) my trusty Red Wing boots, and some big earrings.

  26. Adrienne says:

Love the Madelyn wool kimono. Would layer it over everything and anything all winter!

  27. Lauren says:

    Love the London tunic!

  28. Sienna says:

The Cardiff jacket in this olive wool is gorgeous. I think it would pair nicely with the Elizabeth Suzan Clyde pants I just got in clay, and a simple white nursing tank from Boob Design.

  29. Mathilde says:

Whenever you share a great brand from the US or Canada I’m always sad I live overseas. She has the most beautiful pieces! I would love the Madelyn Wool Kimono or the Arden top – or everything else from the collection 😉 Thank you for all the work you do and good luck going full time!

  30. Kendra says:

The Cardiff coat! Perfect layer for SoCal winters.

  31. Sarah says:

Cardiff Coat! Over all black skinny jeans and gray turtleneck.

  32. Meredith says:

The Bolinas duster! I would love to use it to tie together simple skinnies, skirts, and tanks!

  33. Anne says:

Oooh, I love the tunic dress! I’d wear it with sandals in the summer and a turtleneck and boots in the winter. Perfect piece.

  34. Erin Metschke says:

I love the madilyn wool kimono! I’d wear it with a silk top and jeans or black pants 🙂

  35. I’ve been wanting to explore winter whites and as a lover of the high waist, the Dune Wide Leg Pant in Eggshell looks like perfection for both colder and warmer pairings!

  36. Betty says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono and would style it with a black dress underneath – or a white t-shirt and some black skinny jeans.

  37. Carreen says:

The wool kimono, to shake up my winter uniform: faded black skinnies, black wool tee, camel booties, camel bag!

  38. Krystal says:

This is an amazing giveaway, fingers crossed on both hands! I think the Madelyn kimono is a big leap out of my fashion comfort zone. I’d wear it over a LBD to keep it feeling like me and also over my comfy loungewear at home.

  39. Lauren says:

The Mara Tunic dress looks so comfortable and versatile! I would pair it with my old high top converse in the summer or wear it over leggings and moto boots with a jacket in the fall and winter. I love a lot of her wool items too but sadly, I’m allergic. ?☺️

  40. Emma Grahn says:

I love the vista jumpsuit! I think in the winter it would be so cute with a scarf, long sweater, and booties! But in the summer I would wear it on its own with Birkenstocks and a long necklace.

  41. Bridget says:

Love the dune wide leg pants! Would pair with a simple white tee.

  42. They’re all so beautiful!!! The Duster Vest in either grey or black would be stunning! I’d pair it with a cozy sweater, vintage 501’s and brown leather heeled booties.

  44. Emily Nso says:

The Vista Jumpsuit is amazing!! I would style with a scarf, black booties, and assymetrical cardigan. ?

  45. Sara says:

If I was to win, I’d pick the Arden Sweater in Beige. I’d style it over a slim pair of burnt orange chinos, with black booties and a turquoise and brass statement necklace I just picked up from Old Blood!

  46. Zainab says:

I never have such luxury jacket like this. I was swooning after watching you pairing this jacket and styling it with such ease.
If ever in million years I can ever afford this jacket, I will pait with my maroon button up shirt and my Zara stone color pants with my Oxford shoes and my Maroon sling bag.

  47. Annelie Williams says:

The Bolinas duster in black or olive with white skinnies, my black or beige turtleneck and my congnac booties!

  48. Erin says:

Any of the dresses and tops are certainly tempting but I love the Cardiff coat! The olive color fits in nicely with my current closet and would be a fantastic addition to my current typical work wear– all black either skinny jeans and top or dress and tights. It looks so cozy!

  49. Katie says:

I’ve always loved her Cardiff work coat!

  50. Michaela B. says:

I love the Cardiff wool coat in grey! I can think of plenty of way to style — I’d love to wear over wide legged pants with a turtleneck and a block heel for work, or dress it up with a knee length dress, tights and booties for a night out.

  51. Amelia C. says:

My favourite piece is the Madelyn kimono, I love how versatile it is and the way it drapes. I would style it much like it is shown on the model with a silk top, fitted jeans and boots.

  52. Brooke says:

After seeing all the ways you styled it, I think I would have to go with the olive cardiff coat! This would be perfect over black skinnies, my ada shell tradlands tee, and black heeled boots for dinner and drinks.

  53. Katherine Thousand says:

Oh man, you’ve gone and done it again! Another awesome brand to get hooked on *covers eyes sheepishly*

I love at least 6 things that I saw on the site, but I think my absolute favorite has got to be the Alta Silk Tunic. It’s the most versatile for my climate, and would be amazing with Leggings, skinnies, AND shorts! Looks like a must have…

Thanks for doing this post! I’ve also officially picked out my Christmas outfits… monochrome black leggings & tunic for Christmas Eve, whic I’m hosting this year (eek – it’s my first time. Wish me luck!) and skinnies, red basic sweater & bold red lip for Christmas Day with my bf’s family.

    ?Merry Christmas! Xo?

  54. Amanda V says:

I would also have to go with the Cardiff coat! I’m a sucker for jackets. I’d wear it with gold hoops, a thrifted cream cashmere turtleneck, and my Elizabeth Suzann cotton canvas Tildas in tan ?

  55. Corinne P. says:

    Definitely the Madelyn Wool Kimono!!

  56. Tania says:

I would wear the Cardiff coat in olive over a “Ça va de soi” brown knit dress, accessorized with “Anne-Marie Chagnon” silver necklace and earrings, with black tights and heels.

  58. Adrienne Wantulok says:

  59. Andrea says:

I love tje circle bag. I would wear it with a flowery empire waist dress and jean jacket.

  60. Jill says:

Mara tunic dress. Just my style!

  61. Juliet Hollingsworth says:

    The column dress looks amazing!

  62. Justine says:

I really like the Vista Jumpsuit in black. I would style it with a turtleneck, clogs and a crossbody bag. Or maybe a tee with a pop of color bandana and tennis shoes ??

  63. Andrea L says:

I’d choose the Alta top, and wear it over some tank dresses or pair it with skinny black pants.

  64. Gwen says:

I would choose the Cardiff in Olive and pair it with black jeans, a cream sweater, and black or brown boots!

  65. Lovvvve the Cardiff Coat!!!

  66. Allison says:

I would go for the Cardiff in grey worn over black basics or the Alta top in black for its dress up and down versatility.

  67. Elliot Murrer says:

I’d love to snag the Cardiff Coat for my wifey. I would style it will overalls and Ecuador sandals.

  68. Stefanie says:

I’d love a Cardiff coat. Over a fitted sweater/turtleneck tucked into some skinnies or wide leg pants with my Nisolo heels!

  69. Heather S says:

I love love love the Linden Tunic in Raw Silk (Eggshell). I would style it with cropped black pixie pants, mules and a bold silver statement necklace.

  70. Laura Buchta says:

So hard to choose just one piece, they’re all so good! But I’d have to go with the Cardiff work jacket in grey because it’s so versatile! I’d go classic and simple by wearing it with a white tee and black skinnies, and then adding some red lipstick for a little color ??

  71. Sarah Winton says:

I love the Calle Jumpsuit. I’d style it with a sewuin blazer and black pumps for a holiday party!

  72. Sarah T says:

For me it would be the Arden top in grey. I’d style it with a black and white striped skirt, black ankle boots and a long, turquoise necklace for a pop of color.

  73. B. Haflich says:

I love the Arden Sweater (and the matching top, but it’s cold out! sweaters are my jam right now). I’d pair it with something slim-line but warm on the bottom, perhaps some thick fleece-lined leggings and a heavy-drape or tight-fit mini skirt, or some particularly warm slim-fitting pants. And of course, a warm chunky scarf!

(though, the Linden tunic & LeWitt skirt are also calling my name… tough choice!)

  74. Deb Small says:

I love the Vista jumpsuit in black! I have been wanting a jumpsuit for awhile and this would be a great addition to my “kindergarten teacher friendly” wardrobe. I would be invincible in this jumpsuit!

  75. Michelle M says:

LOVE this jacket and the way you’ve styled it in this post! I would also pick the Cardiff Work Jacket, but in black wool – so lovely!

  76. Cari says:

I would go Calle jumpsuit. I’ve never owned a jump suit but have always wanted one. This one looks like it would be an amazing start!

  77. Katie Junkin says:

I absolutely love the Bolina’s duster wool vest, and I love it because it would be so versatile! The perfect piece to begin to reduce the size of my closet! For this time of year, I would wear it layered over a basic turtleneck for a casual look or over a fun satin shirt for festive get togethers (I own one that would look fab with!)!!
    Love it!!

  78. It would be very hard to select one Only Child favorite piece since so many of them appeal to my heart and style sense, but it would finally have to be the Olive Bolinas Duster Vest in Wool . I would style it with everything i possibly could! Short dress and ankle boots, or over skinny jeans and a turtleneck.

  79. Natalie says:

I’d LOVE the LeWitt skirt in Olive (completely heart-eyes over it) and I know I would wear it year round; a concert tee tucked in or silk/linen cropped cami for summer, long sleeve madewell top or Jamie + the Jones T top in umber with tights and boots for fall, and undoubtedly with the J&J T sweater for winter (I mean, how could you not). You’re such an inspiration, thank you for spreading so much ethical fashion cheer!

  80. Rita says:

The column dress is so versatile. Just the kind of piece that works for me and our mild (and mildly unpredictable) weather. I can wear it in the winter with a blouse or long sleeve turtle neck underneath if it’s cold enough, or in Summer just on its own with casual sandals on the weekend or something a bit more elevated for work.

  81. Emily Burnham says:

Hi!! So I’ve been drooling over the Cardiff Jacket FOREVER in black or olive (you make the olive look so fun and versatile!). I love the Cardiff because it looks so swingy and easy to style, and super chic for work or a date night! I live in a super cold climate (Oregon!) and I’m dying to find a good piece that is more stylish than a puffy jacket.

I’d wear it with my Elizabeth Suzann Cecilia Pants, my warm & trusty Kodiak Boots, a big chunky scarf and some fun stripes peeking out for the top!

    Fingers crossed! ??

  82. This is such a great brand to partner with!! I love your outfit, it’s basically my aesthetic. I would choose to wear the Madelyn Wool Kimono with my distressed jeans, a white button down and mules! For a more dressed up look I’d wear it over a black shift dress with my tall boots and a simple pendant like yours! Thanks for the cute outfit ideas and for sharing a great new brand!!

  83. severine nichols says:

I am pretty conservative and really try to keep things simple, clean and classic. This way I can wear items for many years and interchange them out. If I ever try to follow trends, I end up feeling silly and uncomfortable. I would choose the Alta tunic in an olive color-(green is my favorite), I feel this can be dressed up or down with accessories. I would pair with leggings or slim jeans and ballet flats. I own two pieces from Haley and love the quality. I feel the Alta tunic would blend in seamlessly, into a classic wardrobe. Thank you for the chance to win something from this beautiful FW17 collection.

  84. Katie says:

I have the Cardiff jacket in grey and wear it all the time! It’s so versatile, I wear it as a blazer or jacket depending on the weather. I’d love a bolinas duster or Alta tunic next. I’d pair both with my ES Cecilia pants and booties!

  85. Hannah says:

The vista jumpsuit in linen! I’m drawn to its simplicity rather than versatility. I love seeing how other women Jazz it up and style it, but I love the thought of being able to throw it on and go – one and done! It’s so classic and beautiful, so effortless, I know it would be a workhorse in my closet!

  86. Jess says:

I would love to get the Cardiff Coat, the olive is gorgeous and would look good with everything in my closet! I would pair it with my wide leg jeans, a white tee and Chelsea boots and wear all day everyday.

  87. Zoe Barker-Aderem says:

I love the cardiff coat! (I’ve also had the column tank in my sights for months.) I’d probably wear it in the green over an all black base.

  88. Jessica Nolan says:

You I love the wool duster vest! Especially in that gorgeous green color. I’m thinking of pairing it with a black turtle neck, black boot leg jeans and some black boots! Plus some silver accent jewelry of course ! 🙂

  89. Lauren says:

Love the Cardiff Jacket, the shortish length is perfection. I’d go for the lovely light grey color, pair it with my blue wideleg Everlane pants, black Sevilla Smith booties and accessorize with my chubby newborn in his light grey ergo carrier! 😉

  90. Elizabeth Jenkins says:

Madelyn Wool Kimono looks so cozy! I live in Alaska so something like this would be a dream. I would pair it with stripped cotton long sleeve shirt, skinny jeans and waterproof boots for the rain and snow.

  91. Courtney Clement says:

For sure the Madelyn kimono over a tee and skinnies.

  92. Vivian says:

I’ve been eyeing the Cardiff Coat in black for a long time…I’d dress it with a black jumpsuit and my Nisolo Mariela mules in sand. Loving the all-black outfits lately!!

  93. Amy Rands says:

Olive Cardiff coat… and I would style with 3 mid century sterling pins grouped together along the collar.

  94. Brandi says:

I like the Arden or Alta tops in raw silk, but I’m drawn to the Cardiff Coat, too! I’d wear the tops or the Coast with my ES Clyde Culottes and some ankle boots. Maybe layer a turtleneck under if it was particularly cold out!

  95. Sara says:

I would love to try the Alta Tunic in Raw Silk…in black. I’m unsure of size tho… I fall between measurements on the size chart. Either a s/m or a m/l? Should one size up or down in this brand. I’m a s/m for bust and hip…But I have a straightish body type so I’m in the m/l for waist measurement…

  96. Magda says:

That very same, absolutely amazing, Cardiff wool jacket in olive paired with my black Paige lace-up crop flares, IvyLee patent boots, soft vintage tee and a black leather cuff by Anu Tera.

  97. Ellen says:

Living in Canada, layers are a necessity so the item I would choose would be the Cardiff Jacket in grey. Because my closet lacks shorter, transitional coats, and light coloured layers this would be a perfect addition. I would pair it over a black base or with high-waisted pants and light coloured t-shirts and sweaters. I can also envision it belted over dresses for an elegant going out look.

  98. Joyce says:

I would pick the Vista jumpsuit—makes getting dressed in the morning so easy peasy having a one piece. One and done! And giant pockets, love!!

  99. Pam Hammond says:

I’d love the Arden Sweater in beige to pair with my black Cardiff Work Jacket in black, with some black skinny jeans and my Nisolo Chelsea boots! Or the Vista Jumpsuit to pair with sandals/flats for Texas spring/summer/fall.

  100. Heather E. says:

Love me some Only Child! I’m digging the cream Arden sweater right now, which I’d wear with the olive Only Child wide-leg pants I’m awaiting, and my dark brown Sevilla Smith Terilyns!

  101. Julia says:

I would pick the Calle jumpsuit in Olive and style it so many ways, but first off probably with some low, cream-colored block heels or some sock boots!

  102. Katie says:

The Madelyn Kimono without a doubt! Love the shape and texture.

  103. Kristen says:

I would choose the Alta Top in raw silk. I like things simple, so I would style with high waisted jeans and my fav Poppy Barley booties. And maybe even a long gold pendant necklace.

  104. Zoe says:

What a dreamy idea! The Madelyn Kimono, absolutely. Likely with cotton bra and undies, a cup of hot tea, and a book while curled up in my reading chair.

  105. Claudia says:

I love the Bolinas duster! It always seems so effortless and put together.

  106. Leigh says:

The Cardiff coat in wool!! I’d style it with Ponte pants, ankle boots, and a fitted long sleeve tee topped off with a long eye catching pendant to break up the look. The more I invest in quality pieces the more simple my looks get, I rarely wear many extra accessories now since I feel my articles of clothing can stand alone as a stunning look! Thank you for the opportunity Lee and Haley!!

PS I love the silk Florence pants!! Budgeting way ahead of time for those babies so I can add them to my wardrobe for next fall ?

  107. Hillary says:

I recently discovered your blog and it inspired me to buy more sustainable clothes. I’m slowly trying to build up a wardrobe and Only Child is one of my favorites! I would purchase the olive, wool Cardiff Jacket too. (It’s just so lovely). I would style it with black trousers. (I want to say comfy legging-esque trousers, but it’s the holidays and anything tight might not be a good idea). And I just ordered a raw silk top, in blush, from Jamie + The Jones. (I took advantage of your Black Friday sale tips. . . so, thank you!) Happy holidays! Thank you for a chance to win!

  108. Giustina says:

The Cardiff Work Jacket in Wool is dreamy perfection. I would love to have it as a wardrobe staple. Thanks for the stellar giveaway and introducing me to Only Child 2 years ago! So happy that you’ll be doing this full time, especially since 2018 is going to be the beginning of my journey into ethical clothing shopping. You’re an inspiration! xo

  109. Shelby D. says:

Swoon. That Calle Jumpsuit in eggshell is perfection! I’d style it with some Nisolo bone colored closed-toe heels and one of my favorite closet pieces: a vintage Kelly green velvet cropped jacket. And a swipe of Kari Gran lip gloss in Suji would definitely tie it all together!

Thanks for a lovely and generous giveaway!

  110. Oxie says:

How cool is the grey wool kimono!

  111. Annie Oakley Waterman says:

Id style is similar to the way you did.. wide Jesse Kamm or Elizabeth Suzan black pants, tight white shirt, rachel comey boots with the cardigan on top!

  112. Alissa says:

Calle jumpsuit in black. I don’t own a jumpsuit so this one would be a perfect addition. I would style it with ankle boots, tall boots, flats, with a long necklace or belt to dress it up, under a short or long cardigan…so many ways.

  113. Jeanne Seeds says:

The column dress with a silk shirt underneath or a chunky sweater on top.

  114. Dawn says:

It’s hard to *choose* but the Madelyn Wool Kimono is talking to me although I’ve been eyeing the Alta Tunic for a while now. I would style the Kimono so many different ways. Since its the weekend right now, I’d wear it to the farmer’s market today with my COH cropped jeans, vintage Zoran ivory top, and cognac ankle boots (all thrifted). If it were during the work week, I would wear the kimono with my black slim and cropped wool trousers and vintage black wool turtleneck (also both thrifted). Thanks for the opportunity!

  115. Kristin E says:

I’d love a monochrome gray Bolinas duster over gray turtleneck. Big pendant statement necklace and skinny jeans.

Cardiff coat in black, for sure! But maybe also an Alta tunic? It’s all so good.

  118. Anne says:

Olive Cardiff Coat worn over a cashmere sweater with jeans and boots.

  119. Jill says:

I would go with the Cardiff coat in gray and would style it in so many ways. I think it would be lovely over address. I also like the silhouette you presented, with a fitted shirt and looser trousers. Add a statement necklace and it would be absolutely lovely.

  120. Tracy says:

I would choose the Calle jumpsuit in black with heels and some statement earrings. Great for holiday events. On top I would wear the Cardiff Coat to keep me warm to and from!

  121. Katherine Dennison says:

It was hard to choose just one favourite, but for me, it’s the Calle Jumpsuit. I’d style it with a turtleneck or long-sleeve tee underneath in the colder weather, and with my leather jacket and clogs in the spring.

  122. Victoria Bouchard says:

I love the Alta Top in Olive. I don’t have any olive clothes which is a shame because I love it.

  123. Evy says:

I would wear the Cardiff coat layered over a turtleneck column maxi dress and some ankle booties. I just managed to snag a secondhand pair of the Rachel Comey Mars boots, so I’d probably wear those or my pointed toe chelsea boots!

  124. SHANNON says:

The Cardiff Work Jacket in Wool styled just like the model with black slacks and a white shirt!

  125. Lara says:

I love the idea of the black Cardiff coat over a striped, slim fitting turtleneck and high waisted Levi’s! Would throw on some black mules to complete the look!

I’m obsessed with the Cardiff work coat! I want it in every color!! ??

  127. Stephanie Brown says:

  131. Megan Rexin says:

I would definitely go with the madelyn wool kimono, and pair it with my mid-thigh black swing dress, off-black nylons, and high heeled black ankle boots. The grey + black combo is life!

  132. Angelica N says:

I like the Dune Wide Leg Pant. I think it’s super in style right now. Wear it with some menswear inspired shoes and a simple single coloured sweater with a statement necklace!

  133. Congratulations on the new venture Lee!? How exciting! I really loved all your style suggestions, I’m a huge fan of monochromatic looks right now as well, I would love to style the “Lewitt Skirt” in a mod 60’s fashion with tights that matched my shoes. I’m loving the stockings with block heels look??

  134. Cynthea says:

This current collection is my favorite so far, and I have several favorites, but I particularly love that olive Cardiff coat! This shade of green is my favorite color, and it’s so versatile (basically a neutral in my opinion). I would style it over all black or cream—and probably just about everything else 🙂

  135. Katie says:

This is so much fun! I’ve been looking for grey outerwear this year, and haven’t found something just right. I’m sure I’d go for the Cardiff work jacket in grey. I’d layer my wide leg V-neck crop jersey Eileen Fischer jumpsuit over a black or cream colored turtleneck, and wear the coat on top (with rolled sleeves – love that!). I’d add warm socks some black knee-high flat boots. I’ve been having fun this season, rocking cropped pants over higher shaft boots. Love the look! Maybe add my giant dark grey wool scarf and some black leather gloves to take it outside. It would feel funky, professional, and chic! Happy Holidays to you and everyone else having fun with this give away!

  136. Kaela says:

The Linden Tunic is so versatile – I love it!

  137. Laura says:

I’d do the Cardiff coat in grey. Would look great over a white T with skinny jeans and cognac booties. Or over a simple black sheath midi dress.
Congrats Lee on doing the blog full time!

  138. Mey Comas says:

The Arden Top in the oatmeal or grey color would look great year round. Love the 3/4 sleeve length. It could be dressed up with black slacks or down with jeans and flats, a very versatile piece to own for sure!

  139. Tess says:

    Love that olive Cardiff coat

  140. Kathryn says:

I’ve been eyeing the Cardiff since first seeing sneak peaks on instagram Before the collection launched. Would have a tough time choosing between black and olive but would probably default to black since it is my comforting go-to. Would wear with literally everything as a cozy top layer. Most likely my brass ponte pants and a cozy turtleneck for this chilly snowy weather in NJ!

  141. Alex says:

The Madelyn Kimono and I’d wear it over a silky dress or high-waisted jeans and a cropped top!

  142. Kristin says:

The Madelyn wool kimono over a fitted dress for winter would be my favourite look. even though I have to wait a few more month until Australian sweltering heat is turning into cooler days.

  143. Janet says:

I love Only Child. It was a difficult decision to make a choice but I decided on the Arden Top in Raw Silk in Olive. It would work into my wardrobe in lots of ways but one way would be with my Tobacco Jesse Kamm Pants. I love that colour combination. I have worn my Kamm Pants with Olive and it is a great combination. The Arden Top would be perfect.

  144. I’m loving the look of the Madelyn wool kimono or the Arden dress in raw silk. This would be an awesome gift for myself for the holidays! I’m crossing my fingers…

  145. Meredith Honig says:

I have been looking for a jumpsuit with sleeves, and so I think I would take the easy plunge with the Calle jumpsuit. I’d pair it with my Bolinas duster (my first Only Child purchase) and some ankle boots or mules. Then I’d definitely pop it with a pair of WKNDLA earrings and a fresh coat of Glossier’s ‘Zip’ on my lip! A girl can dream…Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

  146. Samantha says:

I would choose the Cardiff Work Jacket in Grey, and pair it with vintage jeans, a cozy mockneck, thick wool socks, and clogs. Thanks for hosting this giveaway, and congrats and the exciting news!

  148. Geneviève Legros says:

I looove the Alta top in raw silk. I would get it in grey and style with a pair of high waisted black trousers. I would do a slight tuck in front. And pair with some low block heels. Great look for work!

Cardiff jacket 🙂 over everything for three seasons.

  150. Sarah Andersen says:

I would love to own the Cardiff work coat- it’s so cozy looking and versatile! I’d wear mine to work with black skinny trousers, black ankle boots and a floral silk tank underneath (all thrifted items in my closet!) Great giveaway 🙂

  151. Christina Alexander says:

I got an Alta tunic in raw silk a few months ago and it is amazing to say the least. And Haley was awesome and customized my order for me. I have been wanting to add another piece – looking at the Bolinas duster or Cardiff coat. Such a great giveaway!

  152. Kimberly Ake says:

Well, Christmas came early for someone! It is so hard to pick favorites when it comes to Hailey’s line. I always get compliments on my Madelyn when I wear it, so it would be tempting to go for a Cardiff because….ah COATS! And I’m eyeing the linen Alta to come back for spring. But from the current collection, I think I’d want to push my style a little – with the Vista jumpsuit! The words I try to keep in mind for my clothes are Classic yet interesting, Effortless, and Organic. I really don’t know how I haven’t tried a jumpsuit yet, since it fits those words perfectly. Picturing it now with a striped turtleneck or cashmere crew underneath, plus booties and fun earrings. In warmer months, ditching the top under and wearing with mules. I’m not much of a dress person, but thinking a jumpsuit could be my ‘one and done’ outfit. Good luck to all, and thanks to Lee for making this contest possible!

  153. Sara says:

I adore Only Child and The Madelyn Wool Kimono would be an instant staple in my closet. It’s so important to me to shop sustainably, so if I’m not wearing vintage I’m wearing a new, carefully crafted piece (always in natural fibers) that will last me many years into the future. As a pregnant woman (entering my second trimester!) this Kimono would be indispensable. I’d pair it with a dress and block heel boots, with jeans and a simple cropped cotton sweater, or with a linen tunic. I’d so love to add this piece to my wardrobe.

  154. Linda M Delsnider says:

I’m so happy your back! You were missed! What a great adventure you’ve chosen for your self. I’m so happy for you. The giveaway is awesome for one lucky gal. 155. Angela S says:

I love the Bolinas Duster Coat in wool!! Bolinas is also my happy place in Northern California! ??

  156. So I have to get gushy and say that you are the reason why I started to do capsule wardrobes, and also why I realized that ethical fashion was actually feasible for me. I totally love everything you do, but I’ve never commented (what a lurker, omg, *hides face*) until now – seemed like as good a time as any to start! 🙂 I am also a huge fan of all things Only Child, but have been waiting for the right time to take the plunge and splurge on this Cardiff Jacket. I’d style it with my Elizabeth Suzann cotton canvas Clyde Pants and a black cashmere sweater from Everlane – plus my black leather Nisolo loafers!

  160. mary dolan says:

Oh I love it all! I am a huge Only Child fan and continually love not only what Haley is doing, but how she does it. If I had to choose just one piece, it would be the Calle Jumpsuit. I’d dress it up with a warm sweater, big chunky necklace and booties. Best of all, the piece is so versatile it will go from winter to spring to summer to fall with endless options!

    Thanks for hosting, Lee! xo

  161. Randi says:

I loooove Only Child! Everything is so beautiful. My favorite would probably be the Alta Top (in olive!) because I could literally wear it with anything – jeans, skirts, trousers, or even layered over a dress!

  162. Cheryl says:

I would style the new yet-to-be-released Cardiff coat in navy blue linen over natural ES Clyde pants and my trusty natural linen Only Child Alta top, with a West Perro clay necklace to round it all out.

The sleeve style will even go over my tops with bat wings.

  169. Kate says:

Calle Jumpsuit (in Black) w/ Tan Clogs. Accented with gold jewelry. And a vintage angora duster that I have to stay warm!

  170. Madeleine says:

I would pick the Bolinas duster in olive wool and I’d wear it with plum clogs, my navy Elizabeth Suzann Clyde jumpsuit, a grey and black striped turtleneck, and green wool socks. It would be perfect for milder days!

  171. Bronwen says:

I’d go for the Vist Jumpsuit in eggshell, worn a little on the large side over a neutral or stripy T-shirt, short-sleeved in summer and long-sleeved in winter, for a relaxed (and comfy!) but on trend look. Or I’d throw on a denim jacket over the jumpsuit in the summer (which would look great with a bold, orange-red lip). I’d pair with ankle boots in the winter and minimal slide sandals in the summer, or with court shoes with a block heel for a dressier look.

  172. Marian Butcher says:

    Cardiff coat in wool olive!

  173. Bethany Irwin says:

I’m a sucker for dresses so I’d so wear the Arden dress in raw silk. Dresses are so easy to throw on for work and be stylish at work for parents but comfortable to move around and teach in.

Love your blog by the way and looking forward to your full timeness next year. Merry Xmas x

  178. Paige says:

    I love, love, love the vista jumpsuit in cotton twill! I can already imagine the endless styling possibilities!! I think over a thin wool turtleneck would be the cutest! Throw on a neutral structured jacket and I’d be ready for the Portland “winter”. (;

  179. Michelle says:

Definitely the Calle jumpsuit!!! I’d wear it with my Funkis clog Sandals in summer and with heeled booties and a Han Starnes Cardigan in winter 🙂

  194. Nicole says:

I love Only child! What a great brand for so many reasons. I would absolutely love to win (or just own) the

  197. Breezyred says:

One item? I’m stuck between the Column Tank and the Alta Top, both in olive raw silk. The tank would be great now paired with a gray cashmere cardigan and black jeans, and shorts and sandals come warmer weather.

  198. Charmaine says:

I’d go for the Cardiff Work Jacket in olive, pair it with some black skinny jeans and ankle boots, and stay warm in my cold office all day long. I’d go for the olive because I already have so many black and grey cardigans, and olive is an excellent alternative neutral.

  199. Cate says:

Choosing just one is hard! The Madelyn Wool Kimono would be a great addition to my wardrobe and I can totally see it working with a work dress or with leggings and a tee for an ultimate night in. Lee you have the best giveaways!

  200. Darlene says:

  204. Love your outfit! I’d likely steal a page from your book.

I also love the Column dress in black raw silk ( or white, but I’m not that brave with three kids!), which I’d style with the Madelyn Wool Kimono (since it’s crazy cold), a pair of wool lace knit tights and vintage knee high boots I sadly gave away (anyone got suggestion for a new pair?). I’d accessories simply, with a navel grazing silver necklace that holds a shard from a Peruvian vase (circa. 1300) that my mom gave me for my birthday.

  207. Amelia Tyson says:

I am a newcomer to Only Child but am totally coveting the Madelyn Wool Kimono – it looks like the perfect piece to top off my go-to high-waisted black skinnies/sweater or blouse/heeled black booties combo…..or leggings and a long-sleeved tee!

  208. Renee Kalan says:

I would wear the olive Cardiff Coat every day with everything, but right now I’m envisioning it at a holiday party with my new (thrifted!) Everlane black silk dress, black tights, and black booties. Simple and elegant and cozy and perfect!

  209. Steph says:

I would go with either the Alta tunic in olive. I’d style the tunic for Christmas with black high rise skinnies (or leather leggings if I had some), my favourite gold dangly statement earrings, red ballet flats & red lips. I also have a gorgeous red coat I would wear over top.

The Madelyn Wool Kimono with a silk tunic and warm leggings

I’d choose the Linden tunic in grey – for my life with 2 small girls, machine washable is always a plus! I’m just down the road from you in southern Ontario, where we get lots of lake effect snow, so for now I’d style it layered with a turtleneck and black skinny jeans and add a simple geometric necklace.

  214. Kelsey says:

I can’t wait to read about your take on dressing for Vancouver winters. I feel like I get stuck in a raincoat/rainboot rut so I look forward to some inspiration. Congratulations on your new path and welcome to the West Coast!

  218. Megan says:

Cardiff Jacket in olive. Rust tank. Black slim pants. Clogs.

  219. Katherine Folk-Sullivan says:

That Calle jumpsuit is so good!

  223. Dana Wooster says:

As much as I want to say “oh I would wear the heck out of this!” on certain items, I think there’s a difference between your favorite piece and the piece you love and know you’ll get a lot of wear out of. The Alta Top in Raw Silk is that perfect wear with anything top, for life or at work, and I could see myself tucking it in to high-waisted wide legged pants over the summer, or layered under a blazer with jeans and booties in the winter, and over or tucked in to a skirt with a simple statement necklace for evening. It’s a beautiful piece that is so versatile for anyone’s wardrobe, and thank you so much for hosting this giveaway and helping me be aware of its existence!

  224. Leticia says:

The dune wide leg pant !!! It’s my favorite I would wear it with my Paloma wool boots for winter

  225. Nicole says:

I recently ordered the Alta top and can’t wait to throw it on with skinny jeans for date night!

  226. Bailey Brown says:

I’ve been abusing a cotton-twill olive duster for the last 2 years but it never keeps me warm enough in the freezer that is our architecture office. The Cardiff Work Jacket in Olive Wool could become my winter-office “blanket” that I think all women secretly have at their desks! I imagine wearing the Cardiff topped over a gray turtleneck layered with a caramel cashmere scarf with fringe, tucked into cuffed Everlane light wash denim. Heathered gray socks peeking out under the cuff with black Acne Pistol boots. Finished with gold beaded bracelet handmade in Ecuador and grandma’s heirloom ruby gold ring. Or if I need to “look like an architect” layering the Cardiff over an all black wide leg look with simple silver fossil watch and my burgundy round glasses for color.

Monochromatic Christmas sounds great to me. Christmas is rarely very cold in Oklahoma and monochrome is a good way to look festive when it’s too warm for flannel, sweaters, or even a coat. We typically spend most of Christmas outdoors hiking or taking leisurely strolls. I light layer is all you need until the sun goes down. I can see myself blending into the trees with the olive cardiff coat! Caroline Joy over at Unfancy talks about dressing for “real fall” versus “fantasy fall” and I can definitely attest to the same temptations at different seasons. Courage begets courage and I’d say It takes courage to love the place you live.

First time commenting but have been reading for years. I’m excited to see where full-time blogging can blossom from such a fruitful beginning. Best of luck. Looking forward to reading more!

  227. Christine Powell says:

I love the Alta tunic in raw silk and I’m dying to get my hands on one! I’d style it with ankle-length skinny jeans, heeled booties, a long gold necklace and a fun lip color. Thanks, Style Bee and Only Child!

  228. Rinda Alexander says:

Dune wide leg pant matched with a linen crop and clogs!

  229. Laura B says:

I’ve admired her work for years, but have never taken the plunge! I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono, and would wear it over a black silk dress, tights, and booties, with a statement necklace 🙂

  230. Victoria says:

Only Child is amazing! I own the wool duster and have worn it to almost every holiday party! I would love to wear the Cardiff Work Jacket in Olive wool. I would wear it with a black tank, skinny black jeans, and some heeled booties. Top it off with some fun Mazi earrings, and it would make a cozy and cute holiday outfit! Thank you so much for the opportunity! Happy holidays 🙂

  231. Nicole Mersmann says:

As soon as I saw your post I knew I need that jacket! The Cardiff Coat in Olive Wool looks like the piece that has been missing from my wardrobe, a splash of color amidst all of my black and gray that would work as the perfect layering piece for Winter, Spring and Fall. Styling the jacket would be fairly easy as it looks casual enough to throw on with a pair of jeans and dressy enough to wear to work with some black pants and a tee underneath. LOVE THIS!

  232. Erin M. says:

I love simple pieces I can dress up of down, like the Arden dress. I’d wear it with an eye catching long necklace, patterned tights and booties!

  233. Angela Pieri says:

The Miro skirt in olive! The skirt has a vintage look, and it is difficult to find flattering and simple midi skirts. I would wear this with a t-shirt in warmer weather, a tucked black turtleneck or oversized sweater in colder weather, and with a silk top for work. The versatility!

  234. Courtney Sauder says:

    Super helpful post, Lee!

Only Child Dune Wide-Leg Pants in black + my Everlane Day Flats + a knotted chambray shirt. Perfection!!

    Courtney

  235. Yalanda says:

I can’t decide between the necklace or the shell! They’d both be so perfect for rounding out my wardrobe! But if I had to choose, I’d pick the shell because, practicality 🙂 I’d absolutely add the shell as a layering piece as you’ve done here either with my Wide Leg Everlane Jeans or a pair of denim skinnies! Thanks for such a great giveaway!

  236. Adeline says:

Hi, great post as always! Thank you for being so inspiring 🙂
So… I checked the website and fell in love with the Mara dress in black. I’ve been looking for this type of dress for a while and it’s gorgeous! It’s such a versatile piece it can be worn many different ways but I think I would style it with my pink and green mochila bag and some heels… as soon as the weather allows it!

  237. Christy says:

Ooh! Love Only Child! It would have to be the Madelyn Kimono with dark rinse jeans and chunky heels.

  238. Anya says:

I love your tips. They are very easy to implement and definitely take the stress away.
I’ve never heard of the Only Child before! I just checked out the website and it is so full of inspiration. I just love the understated yet timeless pieces.
It would be a really hard choice but I think I would go for Arden Dress in black. It seems like a very versatile piece. I would style it with black tights, short boots with a high heel. I would also add a statement necklace and throw a duster over it. This feels like a very easy yet put together look. For a weekend or something more casual, I would roll the sleeve a bit, add a long necklace and a pair of sneakers or flat beige boots. I think that would be a cute outfit to run errands in or when I just feel like being more casual.

  239. nicole b says:

I have the Alta tunic on my spring wishlist in neutral and I will be pairing it with my t sweater. But goodness I almost bought the Cardiff jacket too and I would wear that with everything.

  240. jen sorrell says:

My choice is definitely the Cardiff coat in wool, it would just be a matter of color choice!!!

  241. Sarah Newton says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono. I’d style it with a bold red lip, white silk blouse, black cigarette pants and black motorcycle boots. Probably accessorize with a black Matt and Nat backpack, minimalist rose gold hoop earrings and my large black watch with the wooden face. Thanks for the chance to enter!

  242. Kay Marie says:

Alta tunic! It’s the shape I love, and it’s versatility!

  243. Alison Hand says:

I live in jeans and white tees. My fave piece right now is the Cardiff Coat (in any colour!) and I’d pair it with distressed ankle length jeans, a white tee and either some cute booties, or a pair of sneaks to show off some ankle. Perfect outfit for me.

  244. Monika says:

Madelyn Wool Kimono with my Alta top and jeans!!

  245. Annie says:

I love the Cardiff Coat in black and would wear it with a black bodysuit, straight leg mix-wash jeans and cognac ankle boots. Perfect for this mild Oakland weather we’re having!

  246. Hailey says:

Aw this is great! I hadn’t heard of Only Child but after browsing I am now obsessed and have a full shopping cart. I think my favorite item is the Arden dress in raw silk, which would definitely be something I’d snuggle up in this winter with leggings, thick socks and boots, and a cozy scarf 🙂

  247. Brittany says:

Beautiful! I’d choose the Madelyn Wool Kimono or the Cardiff Coat. They are both so versatile. 🙂

  248. Nicole says:

The Alta top is totally the style I’m working toward. I’d probably pair it with just jeans but I think it would help elevate my style from regular t and jeans.

  249. Lydia says:

I’d wear the Arden sweater with some distressed boyfriend jeans, mules, and a few chunky necklaces:)

  250. Alejandra says:

I could live forever in the eggplant dune wide leg pant. I would keep the style simple pairing them with a basic black tee, black shoes and a statement necklace.

  251. Bettina says:

What a great idea to pair up with Only Child, I love what they’re making too. At the moment I am eagerly waiting to receive the Madelyn kimono. As an additional piece I’d love the Cardiff Coat too! I’d roll up the sleeves as you did, wear a grey or white / off white top underneath so that the sleeves would peak out, with a skinny black or navy jeans, and some camel booties (by the way, thanks for the recommendation on the Mars boots, they’re awesome!), maybe an interesting scarf for a pop of color, and it would just be one of my favorite outfits! Thanks so much for giving your readers this opportunity!

  252. Megan Chambers says:

I love wearing my vista jumpsuit over turtleneck sweaters–it is such an easy outfit to throw on and I also feel comfy and put together! I am a preschool teacher, so the large pockets on the vista are also useful for all the silly things kids hand me throughout the day!

  253. Mica says:

    Madelyn wool kimono is beautiful!

  254. Lara says:

Love the Column Dress in Raw Silk

  255. Emily says:

Ah! I’d love the Madelyn Kimono!

  256. Ashley says:

I’m also a big fan of Only Child! I think I’d choose this same Cardiff coat…loving the olive green. ?

  257. I’d pick the Bolinas Duster Vest in Wool in black. I’m probably going to start my (wedding) photographer business next year and black outfits are the way to go! A long vest would warm me up without making uncomfortable shooting and moving my arms 😀

  258. Marcia Davidson says:

I also love the Cardiff coat. I would like one in olive and would wear it with a black cashmere crewneck sweater and jeans. I think Only Child has the best fitting and classiest pieces!

  259. Kara says:

I like the Bolinas Duster Vest in Black. I can imagine styling it over a black turtleneck and jeans with some ankle boots.

  260. Lexie says:

I’d love to wear the Arden top with jeans and boots! So pretty!

  261. Amanda Pena says:

I LOVE the dune wide leg pant in eggshell. Would wear that for a special occasion like New Year’s or as an every day pant. Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day??

  262. Areej Ashraf says:

I’d wear the Cardiff work jacket with a silk cami, cropped trousers and slides! Amazing giveaway as usual, Lee!

  263. Katy says:

My first ethical clothing purchase was from Only Child a couple years ago! It’s great to see her success! It’s so hard to choose one item- I really love all of Haley’s pieces, especially her outerwear collection. But I think I would pick the Cardiff Jacket as well, really in any color. I’d style it with a longer top (maybe my Mara Tunic?!), skinny jeans, and ankle boots. (Great style tips on your post, Lee! I especially liked the ideas of a simple red lip or a black manicure with stacking rings! Thanks for sharing!)

  264. Brittany says:

I’m in love with the Madelyn wool kimono and would pair it with my ES Cecilia’s!

  265. Katherine says:

So excited to hear you’re going full-time with Style Bee!
I would love to own the Bolinas duster in grey wool – I think it would be a stunning statement piece over an all black look like a turtleneck dress or blouse and dress pants !

  266. Emily King says:

I’m obsessed with the Madelyn Wool Kimono!

  267. Kat says:

    Lee,
I’m so excited about you going full time, I can’t wait to see more of your outfit posts!! I adore the Madelyn wool kimono, it looks like it would fall gorgeously but still be so cozy! I’d pair it with my current uniform of high waisted black skinny jeans, cognac ankle boots, and a simple top half tucked into the jeans. A small detail I love is the full length sleeves on it, I always hold my sleeves when I put my coat on, I hate when they get bunched up under my coat! ?

  268. Alexandra says:

I love seeing how Haley styles her pieces on her Instagram! If I were to add another Only Child piece to my small collection, I’d probably go with the Alta Tunic in either black or olive. I think it’s such a lovely elevated basic piece. I can see myself pairing it with skinny jeans and some wedges. I’d be curious to see how it layers with the Madelynn Kimono, too!

  269. Rachel says:

I love the Cardiff Work Jacket in olive (one of my favorite colors)!! I would style it with black skinnies, a simple black 3/4 sleeve top, black booties and a long gold necklace. I’d love to try it with my denim jumper dress from Vetta too!

  270. Meg says:

Only Child’s clothes are lovely. And I’ve no doubt they’re a wonderful person. However, it makes me sad to see yet another designer who ignores such a huge chunk of the female population. There are a lot more of us size 18s than there are size 0s. Yes, I’ve heard the argument that over a size 14, there are too many different body types so it’s harder to size up. I don’t buy it. Smaller women vary a great deal in shape as well. But, in the case of Only Child, the unstructured pieces seem as if they could easily be sized up.

I love your style. I love your blog. And, your dog is also adorable.

    • Haley says:

      Hi Meg!

Thank you so much for your comment and insight, this is definitely a topic that I have had on my mind and one that I hope I can do justice. I’ve expanded our size range with each season, even just a year ago I only offered two size options which honestly seems crazy in hindsight. But, as a small brand doing everything in house and with limited resources at the time, sometimes adding and changing things takes a little bit longer than anticipated. For this current season I expanded our sizing to include pieces that fit up to a 14, 16 in our looser styles. For whatever reason, the larges and xl’s very rarely get purchased and I am currently digging in to figure out why that is. Initially as a business owner the thought is to lean into what’s working and cater to the sizes that are purchasing. However, I know that the demand is there so the problem must lie somewhere on our end. I think part of solving that includes photographing our offerings on women of all shapes and sizes, a goal that I have for the coming season.

I really appreciate your candor and honesty, my goal is to continue to offer more sizes so that every woman feels represented. There will be a lot of work that will go into it behind the scenes because I want to make sure it is as great as it can be, but hopefully we will be offering more in the not so distant future!

      -Haley aka Only Child

  271. Cassidy says:

I absolutely love the Arden Dress in Eggshell Raw Silk! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect, versatile white dress that can be worn year-round, and this dress checks all the boxes! I see myself wearing this under a long cardigan with boots in the winter and with the sleeves cuffed and my birkenstocks in the summer.

  272. Katie says:

Oh what a wonderful gift! I would choose the Cardiff Work Jacket in Wool, color black. Towards the latter part of this year I have really had to focus on staying within my budget and only choosing items on my wardrobe need and want list. A wool coat/cardigan is on my list. I would style it with everything… jeans, black booties, a light wool charcoal crew underneath and a big warm blue, black or gray scarf. I could wear it on outings with my four year old during the day, during my work days and on the occasional date night! Thank you again for the opportunity.

  273. Chelsea says:

Congrats again on going full-time! Looking forward to more posts. Thanks for hosting the giveaway! So tough, but I think I would go with the Mara Tunic Dress in Olive. Can’t resist that dress silhouette plus pockets! I would add a coatigan and tights with my Chelsea boots for warmth this winter!

  274. Karen Palmer says:

Dear oh dear, how to choose?
Today I would pick the Linden Tunic in black, luscious raw silk. The simple drape of the cloth would be perfect with a pair of skinny jeans and my black danish clogs. I would add a dash of colour with my long string of japanese glass beads made by Julia Turner. On cold days the lack Madelyn kimono would be a perfect choice… but ooo no, we can only pick one!
The tunic would transition perfectly to the evening with black cigarette pants, a pair of simple black heels and a wide sliver cuff. An oxblood red clutch would add the perfect punctuation.
    and so so much more!

  275. Anne Cheek says:

Oh , I love the Cardiff coat in wool. I am pretty sure I could style it with about anything. I am just postpartum, so it looks like it would feel cozy and loose!

  276. Evelyn says:

That Cardiff coat is perfect. I love things with big pockets I can throw on over things. I’m a teacher, so I always need pockets at work (where else will I put confiscated Pokemon cards?) but some of my favorite pants, like my Tildas from Elizabeth Suzann, don’t have pockets. That Cardiff looks like it can hold a LOT of contraband and will look super cute with my Tildas and Cecelia pants.

  277. Gina Henry says:

I would love the Arden dress in raw silk! I have only recently began to include dresses back in my wardrobe and this would be the perfect addition! I can see myself wearing it with black slippers, a fedora hat, leather jacket and black booties! The material mix would be so cool! Keeping my fingers crossed….

  278. Phoebe says:

I love the Dune Wide Leg Pant in Olive. I would wear it with a grey knit sweater and black booties.

Thank you for the opportunity! xx

  279. Divya says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono! I have been on the hunt for a wool coat for sometime. I would wear it with my everlane sweater/turtleneck , jeans and oxfords!

  280. Tawny says:

Ooh de-lurking for this contest! As much as I’m tempted by all the wooly things at only child we are moving somewhere much warmer next year so I think I would pick the raw silk column dress in olive. I’d wear it with my cognac Birkenstock clogs, and long key necklace for casual, and maybe dress it up for my brother’s wedding with ivory chunky heel sandals, and my diamond studs.

  281. Carlisle Kent says:

Such a difficult question, everything Haley makes is so dreamy! I’ve been mooning over the Arden Dress in raw silk. I think it would be the perfect workhorse for my wardrobe – dress it up fancy-like for a night out, with a collared shirt underneath for work during these colder winter months, and slip on some sweet little sandals for a morning at the farmers market! Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season, from chilly Toronto!

  283. Lacey Wilcox says:

I’m torn between the Madelyn wool kimono and the Cardiff Coat! I’d pair either with a black turtleneck and basically every bottom I own. I also think both would be lovely over a black sheath dress. Love Following Haylie on IG :).

  284. Stephanie says:

Definately the column dress. It’s the perfect blank canevas to style up and down and to wear with different tops underneath. I am coveting the black one to wear with a cranberry top underneath, long necklace and chelsea boots. OR olive sweater underneath, scarf and brogues. OR white collar short sleeve blouse underneath for a chic and cute look, OR…..

I love Haley’s work and can think on so many ways to wear her designs.

    Stephanie
    #truestory, today’s my bday 🙂

  285. Alice says:

Love everything about this outfit! I have the Cardiff work jacket in the white canvas it used to be offered in and love it. I also have those Florence pants in black AND natural linen, but would love to one day add the silk fabric to my repertoire for a dressy option. They look great here! Looking at this photo in fact makes me realize how profoundly this blog has influenced my style. Beyond happening to own two of the same pieces that are in these photos, it has given me confidence to try new silhouettes and break away from the skinny/oversized dichotomy that is prevalent today. The other day I was wearing my Florence pants and my boyfriend commented “You look very grown-up!” (I’m 27, about time, huh?). But I knew what he meant, I think loose but form-skimming silhouettes have a kind of sophistication to them and I am so glad I discovered that through this blog. So, thank-you Lee for broadening my horizons!

To address the question at hand, it is very difficult to choose a favorite from Haley’s website, but I’d have to say the Arden top in olive raw silk. I think I could style it any number of ways, including under the white Cardiff work jacket or under an olive cardigan I have for tone-on-tone! With dark wash jeans for a casual but polished vibe.

  286. Michelle says:

LOVE Only Child! Such a tough one, but my favourite has to be the Bolinas Duster Vest in Olive – would wear it every single day over every single dang thing. 🙂

  287. Anastasiya says:

Thanks for doing this giveaway! I would love to own the Vista Jumpsuit to wear by itself around town and the house, and with a belt to work. I could also put it over a turtleneck during the winter!

  288. Megan Koleff says:

The Alta top! I’m looking for a good work/play shirt that can be dressed up or dressed down. I’m new to the responsible closet and have recently taken to working through which items I’m head over heels for. I have bought one thing recently, some high waisted pants! I have come to love the lines of a high waisted pant with a shirt tucked in and a longer sweater or coat. So with my Alta top I would tuck it in the front of my high waisted medium wash denim and stay cozy with a sweater. For shoes I’d pick an old pair of chelsea boots. Congrats on the career change 🙂

  289. Marilyn says:

What a beautiful collection! I’d pick the wool Kimono and pair it with a linen top from Not Perfect Linen and Everlane black jeans and Sevilla Smith brown flats. Cozy outfit! Fingers crossed for a win! The 18th is my 38th birthday!

  290. Andréanne says:

I’m totally in love with the olive Cardiff jacket. I added it to my cart many times, but have yet to pull the trigger! I would wear it in the most simple way, that is with jeans, booties and a tee. Thanks so much for this giveaway!

  291. Kathleen Cook says:

I live the olive Cardiff coat as well! I would pair it with my cropped wide leg black pants with heels or boots depending on the mood. Turtlenecks on colder days and bamboo Ts on warmer ones. A lively blanket scarf will make it extra cozy. All ethically made of course!

  292. Nicole says:

SO grateful for another intro to an awesome responsible fashion brand! Looked at all the items and love them all; I absolutely adore the Alta Top in Raw Silk but am also totally obsessed with the Cardiff Coat. Aaaaah, decisions! Totally imagining it with just my classic black jeans and boots as a great option for work; I love to keep it stylish but comfy (life of a teacher!)

Also, congrats on launching the blog full time in the new year. I’m so looking forward to more frequent posts, I love everything you put out.

Hope you have a great holiday season!

  293. Helen says:

Interested in the black bolinas duster with the Arden top in eggshell. Would pair it with jeans and cognac boots.

  294. Hillary says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono. I would wear it, honestly, with everything. I’m working on accepting a new body size and this coat would make me feel so fashionable and put together, yet comfortable. I have a wish-list of clothing and this is being added pronto!

  295. Molly says:

I’d love the Calle Jumpsuit in olive!

  296. I love the Cardiff coat! I think it would be lovely with slim trousers or jeans.

  297. Jenny says:

    Thanks for the post!
If I had to choose I would say the Cardiff jacket with my everlane flare pants and a crisp white T.

  298. Emily says:

Thanks so much for the giveaway, Lee! I have a Madelyn Wool Kimono already and love it. I’ve been interested in the Bolinas Duster Vest since I think it would be really versatile for pairing with almost any outfit, from over a dress to over a thin sweater or blouse and jeans. BUT I also would really love the v-neck of Mara Tunic Dress. I feel like it can be dressed up or down easily with the right accessories, and it would work across most seasons! I’d wear the dress with tights and a long-sleeved shirt or mock neck for colder weather and by itself in warmer weather.

  299. Kay Kong says:

Love the Alta Top in olive green which I style with black skinnies.

  300. KathySC says:

This olive Cardiff jacket is my favorite item in your entire closet. I love the easy fit, the color, well…basically everything about it. I can see it over dressy pants as well as jeans!

  301. Lindsey says:

That coat is a great piece, Leigh, and I love the creativity of the color palette you close. Oh, it’s so tough to choose – Haley has a great lineup. I think the cream Arden sweater with dark skinnies, cognac booties, and some gold accessories would be my pick.

  302. Lisa says:

Definitely would love the Cardiff coat in olive..a color I was adding to my basic blacks this past summer. I’m a huge Eileen Fisher fan and I think Only Child works with many of her pieces. I see the Cardiff coat in olive with a simple long sleeve tee in viscose jersey, rolled up boyfriend jeans, a pair of crazy socks and laced up boots. Thanks for entering me in the contest…will wait for further post in instagram (following you both!).

  303. Annaliese says:

So hard to choose…everything is so lovely. I especially love the Vista Jumpsuit in olive. I’d style it under the Bolinas Duster Vest in black with black brogues.

  304. Bogna says:

The Cardif coat in black or grey looks amazing. I love how you’ve styled it and can see it a number of ways – jeans, over a dress or skirt, slim pants – basically a true wardrobe workhorse.

Congrats on your work decision. I’m sure you’ll do really well.

  305. I love your blog and this post! I have been drooling over Only Child since i first discovered it (thanks to your blog!) and while I could truly wear any piece from her collection….I think I’d have to go with the Linden tunic! I love the drape it has and the side skits are gorgeous. I could style it a number of different ways, but I have a feeling my go-to would be over my Imogene and willie Jeans, with my almond loafers from Nisolo and a long gold statement necklace from my local gift/jewelry shop. I work as a violinist in a symphony orchestra, so it’s crucial that I wear clothes that are 100% comfortable in the arms and chest. Having owned a raw silk piece from Jamie and the Jones for a while, I’ve discovered raw silk is the perfect material for long rehearsals or recording sessions!

  306. Chong M Fu says:

I love the Cardiff Coat in wool and the Bolinas duster! I think both would go well with my current go-tos: a turtleneck and Elizabeth Suzann Clyde pants.

  307. Sara C. says:

Oooh, probably the alta tunic. I would get a ton of wear out of that. Or the new jewelry line — beautiful stuff.

  308. Molly says:

I’d love the duster vest in grey! I would wear it with black skinnies and a black turtleneck underneath!

  309. Josie says:

Such exciting news– takin the leap! I own my own company in engineering, and the single most common question I get is how did you start? Congrats!!

I’m loving the Cardiff Work Jacket in Wool Olive too. I could wear it on casual days and to presentations. It’s a flexible piece!

  310. Rae says:

    This is fabulous!
Such a hard decision…I’d probably go with the Eggshell Arden Dress in Raw Silk. Paired with my cognac Rachel Comey Mules, my favorite cropped leather jacket, my go-to emerald pendant necklace, and throw on some Sheer emerald tights if its cold. Ooh or layer a fitted turtleneck bodysuit underneath! Endless possibilities..!

  311. Anna says:

I’m loving the column dress in raw silk. I’d layer it under a long shawl collar cardigan and wear with tights and boots, tall or short, and a long simple necklace for some polish. When it’s warmer I’d wear with the everlane day heel or sandals, platforms for parties. Could even put a thin tee underneath to change it up.

  312. Amanda Phillips says:

It’s a draw: Cardiff Work Jacket in Wool to throw on over black jeans and a tee when traveling (hoping to see more Nordic countries in the next 5 years), or Bolinas Duster Vest in Wool same same. OR Alta Tunic in Raw Silk over a midi skirt since I live in a warm climate and would get more wear. HOW TO CHOOSE?!

  313. Jessica says:

After seeing you style the Cardiff coat in cotton canvas this summer, it’s definitely been a dream piece of mine! Would love it in black but I’m actually considering the olive as you have, as I tend to wear a lot of black bottoms and jackets so a different neutral to throw in the mix would be great! Would wear it with skinny jeans or my ES Florence pants, or even with a midi skirt for the holidays!

Congrats again on your big announcement!

  314. Ingvild says:

Oh my, what an amazing opportunity! But, how to choose… I love the Linden tunic in raw silk, but the Cardiff coat is also a winner in my book. They would look great styled with some bling for festive looks or a nice wool scarf for a more casual vibe, with a pair of black or blue jeans. A black top is my go-to for feeling great, and would probably get a ton of wear. For the coat I’d have to go with olive, you just styled it so brilliantly in this post!
Can’t wait to see you working full time on the blog, I love it so much and can never get enough!

This olive wool Cardiff Coat has been on my wish list since I laid eyes on it and it is absolutely beautiful on you! Living in Florida, I think I could get away with having this as the main coat in my closet & I know it would get a ton of wear. I would style it with my favorite all black base (skinny pants and a loose top) to really make the coat stand out. ❤️❤️❤️

Congratulations on your big decision, Lee! What an exciting undertaking! I’m looking forward to your new content (and helping you pay the bills by clicking through on your links!) 😉 I love, love, love what Haley does at Only Child, so it’s hard to choose – but I think I would go for the Cardiff in grey or black. I’ve always admired how you’ve styled the Work Coat in the past, and a wool version is right up my alley.

  317. Leigh says:

I’m going to jump on the Duster Vest bandwagon as well! I’d love it in Olive. I have these killer skinny black jeans from Iris that I’d pair with a simple t-shirt. I’ve been eyeing the duster vest for a long time!

  318. Dani says:

Lovely giveaway that you’re doing! I just had a look at Only Child and I’m in love. Beautiful items! I’m a black monochrome person these days with the addition of a scarf and pearls. Thank you for the outfit ideas I need them! xx

    • Dani says:

Oh and I just had a proper look and I see about ten things that would do my closet good, but that Cardiff coat is a beauty. I would wear it very simply over slim pants and a light knit with an enamel bracelet and scarf. Tall boots! xx

  319. Melissa says:

I love the Cardiff coat you have on. I can see it with a turtleneck & skinny jeans and booties. But I’m also intrigued by the Calle jumpsuit – put a wrap sweater over it in cold weather with booties or flats in warmer weather. Add a great long necklace and I’d be set

  320. Natalie Callan says:

I absolutely love the Bolinas Duster Vest in Wool, such a versatile piece of layer over any outfit, I would wear the grey duster over my black skinny jeans and black turtle neck!

  321. Amanda says:

I love the Madelyn Wool Kimono! I would wear it to work over every sweater I own and skinny black jeans and booties. It would keep my California blood warm now that I’ve moved to colder weather.

  322. Bonita says:

I love all the pieces, thanks for telling us about this line of clothing, but the Cedros Pant in black linen – I would live in them in the summer.

  323. Lori says:

The Madelyn Wool Kimono with jeans a tee and ankle boots.

Thanks for the great contest! Love your blog and love Only Child!

  324. Emily says:

I love this! The duster vest in olive! I’d wear it over a black dress or jumper for the workday with a little bling and a bold lips! For the weekend, over jeans and a turtleneck.

  325. Olivia says:

I’ve never bought anything from Only Child before but have been eyeing the clothes for months. I’d probably style the Kimono with black skinny pants, a red boat-neck sweater and caramel ankle boots. I hardly wear necklaces these days so I probably won’t be wearing any with this outfit either.

  326. Lisa says:

Oh, I’d love the dune pants! I think I’d style them with a gray cropped wool sweater, some knee high black wool socks, and brown ankle boots.

  327. Lindsey says:

Oooo… the Bolinas Duster Vest in Grey Wool is beautiful! Can’t believe I hadn’t seen Only Child before this post!? I’m gonna have to add it to my ethical shopping list!

  328. Anne walters says:

I love the Arden top and would wear it with my micro skirt, which I love! Such beautiful clothing- thanks for the chance to win!

  329. Kat says:

I have multiple items from Only Child on my wishlist right now! My favorite piece is the Madelyn kimono. I’d probably do all black under with the new version of the Cecilia pants from Elizabeth Suzann (living in these currently) and a black turtleneck or a black silk dress. I’d do a cognac or black boot and cozy scarf (I hate being cold). Love the neutral palette you did with the Cardiff coat (which I also love), and congratulations on taking the blog full time. I really enjoy reading your posts and seeing how you style different pieces.

  330. Valerie says:

I love the Cardiff coat and the wool kimono.

  331. Jacki says:

I am in love with the wool kimono. I wear jeans everyday and this would certainly dress them up. Especially with a pair of heeled booties and understated jewelry.

  332. Lisa says:

I love Only Child! I have a dress that I adore but can’t wear right now because of breastfeeding. Absolutely love the Cardiff work coat in Grey…if I were being honest, I would totally style this with my current uniform of black workout wear…it looks versatile enough to wear with anything and might actually make my uniform pass as a respectable outfit that goes beyond my workout. Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  333. I’ve had my eye on the duster vest since it came out! I love it in grey.

  334. Alison Hird says:

Amazing competition – and you look lovely as always. I adore the Madelyn Wool Kimono and can think of loads of ways to style it – but I’d start with a fitted black jersey dress – knee length, round neckline, add some thick tights or even leather leggings, some grey suede ankle boots and accessorize with a tan bag and chunky pearl necklace. Fingers crossed as I would so love this!! Thank you for all your style inspiration, and also, congratulations!
